Re: kit quality
jabdog on ebay blocked me,brought some 1% caps from him that were 15% over spec so gave them poor neg feedback so they blocked me! wankers!.

Re: winding the air coils
Hi Paul, The difference in inductance for such a small coil should be small, but you may find that the wire does not fit through the pad holes on the PCB.

Re: winding the air coils
ive only just seen this,i already wound l1 with 0-8mm wire, will that matter,i mostly use the lower bands.

Re: winding the air coils
Hi Paul,
If you look at the schematic you posted a few days ago it states the wire diameters.
L1 = 0.5mm wire, L2 - L7 = 0.8mm

Re: winding the air coils
A good quest that all beginners ask. Inside diameter. Just use a metric drill of the correct diameter as the former.

Re: winding the air coils
Traditionally, all air core inductors refer to the internal diameter, Paul. Wind them on drill bits. We have been doing that for many generations now.

winding the air coils
L1 4mm air core 3 turns .05 uH
L2 6mm air core 4 turns .1 uH
L3 6mm air core 7 turns .22 uH
is the dia inside or outside,ie do i wind l1on a 3mm drill bt and l2+3on a 6mm drill bit?.

Re: bias t
Hi, Paul
Read my previous message. That has complete answer to you, link where to buy cores, calculator, needed inductance and even turns.
You can use 2 inductance 50uH.
You can use 2 cores and 100uH

Re: kit quality
That's right! I went overboard on "project overkill" and used 1000v silver mica or Vishay VJHiFreq RF caps in 1111 SMT format. In retrospect, 500v RF caps would have been good

As a rule of thumb I derate my tuners by 50 percent. For example, I use my ATU100 with a Yaesu FT-857 for portable operation running at 50 watts.

If you're having problems with the same caps each time it's possible that the voltage/current at a certain frequency band on your particular antenna is exceeding the spec for that capacitor - you

this was one non answer but dont say if i just leave it out! quote:Hi, Paul
L1 T68-43 one or two cores
L2 is not necessary for HF
I would use like one more L1 100uH
