Re: ATU-10

Hi?
This tuner works in fully automatic mode, you don't have to use the control line if the tuner place is far.
The best way - assembly this tuner as DIY.

I want to have it so ove got some distance between the radio and the atu due to location of a setup and style of setup
Also David is there any ppace where I can buy a original atu-100 from as I've had 2 from china stop workin for no reason

Hi,
I just received my ATU-10 too and if someone has a user manual, or any info on how to interface it with the IC-705 I would appreciate it!

How is the ATU-10 supposed to connect to the 705?
What are the pin connections/what do they do?
What length cable can be between the atu-10 and the 705?

All of it should of being answered but I cant find anything and Im not the only 1 who wants to know

Re: Programming & compiling from github source code

Edited

Has there been any further progress ATU-10? on moving to Arduino IDE. ?

I wonder how hard would it be for those looking at this, to add an option for an 8x8 tune set, rather than current 7x7?? (I'm looking at adding the extra cap/inductor relay switching to my version of the ATU-10 PCB.)

Or maybe David, N7DDC,? might look at this possibility in current Mikro-C code.

Re: #atu-100 Updating firmware can a USBASP be used? #atu-100

See
The USBASP was made for Atmel AVR micros.?
Not all Microchip PIC micros can be programmed, especially the fuse bits.

#atu-100 Updating firmware can a USBASP be used? #atu-100

I have a USBASP? V2.0 used to program chips in my QRP Labs rigs, can this be used to update firmware in my ATU-100's?? If so anyone know how to connect pins?
Thank you? 73? Emory? WM3M

Re: ATU-100 Auto switch does not work? #atu-100

Never mind, had very small solder bridge between the two pins, even under my strongest mag could not really see it.? But got it off with very small blade, works fine now.

Re: #atu-100 Upside down display? #atu-100

Appreciate the help.? I have not tried changing or doing anything with the firmware but will do some research and see if I can do it.
Thank you? 73? Emory? WM3M

ATU-100 Auto switch does not work? #atu-100

New build of ATU-100, works fine but Auto switch does not work, both bypass and auto show _ underline on the display and both turn it off but can't get into auto?? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.? Its a recently bought kit and its version 3.0.? Only way to get it to tune is to push tune button.? Thank you? 73? Emory? WM3M

Re: #atu-100 Upside down display? #atu-100

Hi
You can do that by changing cell 01 with values 04 or 05

Re: ATU-1000 Assembly Instructions Needed

Sorry about the duplicates folks, thunderbird kept saying it couldn't send and was retrying. Good thing I rebooted or who knows how many times it would've retried!

(hison) is or was in this group. Both have said that they're aware of
the bad Chinese toroids and have switched to others. The one I got (not
from hison) said he imports the cores from Germany, so I went with the
ones included in the kit. If I have any heating issues with them I'll
be ordering some new ones from either DIZ or Mouser.

I haven't really looked into max power yet, although I did see some
youtube videos where they were putting well over 1KW thru it. I would
think alot has to do with the SWR of the antenna without a tuner.

Supposedly the current units have the latest firmware, I guess I'll see
that sometime this week too. That should actually happen before I put
RF into it since I can power the PIC board without the tuner board
connected.

I also got your direct email so I'll be sending a separate reply there
shortly.

Since you have built one, mind if I ask a couple of questions?

1) Did you toss the Chinese toroid cores and buy new US-made ones? I've
read that the Chinese core materials are NOT the same quality nor the
same permeability as the USA specification ones.

2) Did the unit work straight away after you built it, or did you have
to upgrade the firmware, or do any other modifications to make it
function properly?

3) How much power have you put through it ? I'd like to use it on FT8 at
a maximum of 400W output. The general rule is that an auto tuner can
handle approx. 1/3rd of it's SSB/CW rating when used on FT8. The later
ATU-1000s were supposedly upgraded to a 1.5 kW SSB/CW rating from the
original EU2AV design, which used less ferrite in the inductors. Any
comment on that?

Thanks for your help!
