Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Hi, Marek.
Yes, they're identical. I have tried 21:3 yesterday and found that 20:3 has even better flat SWR. It is suitable for 1.8 - 21 MHz, not for 28, but in that range it works perfectly with SWR better than 1.3. But efficient is still 85% , very close to simple 14:2 wiring. K5NL method is not working at all, I tried many times. Ugly SWR, no inductance compensation.? |
Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Hi David,
2 identical? I don't think so. Different wires, different construction details which all have impact on losses/efficiency and bandwidth. This is why method is not recommended. As I said try 21:3 autotransformer (tap on 3rd turn) see the note in top right corner. |

That was the issue.... ? When you download a file on OSX it unzips automatically and may be changing something. ?I manually downloaded the zip again (4th time) and unzipped it with unzip in the terminal and used that file. ?It works fine....

No, my period looks good with firmware v1.6.

Hi, Marek
I have connected 2 identical transformer in series like that And I got this data: 28MHz - 9W in 5.8W out; 5W in 3.5W out 14MHz - 9W in 6W out; 5W in 3.2W out 7MHz - 9W in 5.2W out; 5W in 2.8W out 3.6MHz - 9W in 2.9W out; 5W in 2.4W out Calculations of efficient for each core: 14MHz 9W 81%; 5W 84% ? 7MHz 9W 77%; 5W 77% 3.6MHz 9W 57%; 5W 70% |

Hi.
I have loaded 1.6 firmware from? right now just for test |

Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
David one more point, you still have a very long connection leads. Don't change anything just shorten them to 10-15mm and you will see how the plots will change. I found that to measure losses accurately I had to shorten all leads to <15mm, I was surprised how much influence they have on results.

Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Hi David,
Classic 14:2 turns on FT140-43 has low efficiency. I had difficulty in passing 70% mark. I would recommend 21:3 turns. Also arrangements of the wires has impact on performance and compensation of capacitance. You might try to spread last 3rd of the turns |
Period is not displaying properly on v1.6 Firmware

As you can see from the images the the "." period character is displaying as a block character on v1.6 firmware when I reinstall 1.5 it is displaying as expected. Maybe someone put a unicode version of a period instead of a ASCII version... |
Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Marek's method of measurement is consistent with that suggested by Owen Duffy.

Re: ATU-10 kit or build - newdiytech.com website
Hi David,
Except longer leads I don't see issues. I assume that these are #43 cores you are using and nanoVNA is calibrated. Personally I don't wrap them with tape as it limits heat dissipation = lowers power handling capability. Here is one of my transformers (FT82A-43) as comparison and to show how I measure SWR (yellow) and losses-S21 (blue).? S21 shows total losses but if you calculate 10*log((R+50)/50) and subtract from measured values you will get your transformer losses/efficiency. R is resistance in ohms of your test resistor.? I hope that this will help you in trouble shooting.? 73 Marek |
Re: ATU-100 not working / matching in "High Bands"
Hi Dave, indeed, it was mainly an antenna issue, all is fine!!! Thanks for your help. El mi¨¦, 17 de may. de 2023 15:42, Dave (G8PTN) <g8ptn@...> escribi¨®:

Re: ATU-100 not working / matching in "High Bands"
Hi Anibal,
Are the results with a 50 Ohm dummy load or into your antenna?
If you are using the antenna, what is its impedance and SWR without the tuner on the higher bands? Based on the components in the bias-tee video, it should have a good response, so I do not expect this to be the issue.

Re: ATU-100 not working / matching in "High Bands"
Hi Guys, I have replaced the diodes with reference BAT41 and now I can handle up to 15m band, it does not go further (12,10m) Attached you will see the diodes I have used. Any additional?tip / advice? On the other?hand, I have deployed a Bias-Tee so it can work as a remote tunner, pictures are also?attached. NOTE: for the Bias-Tee details please look into this video, thanks to EA3GRN. ? El jue, 20 abr 2023 a las 22:58, Anibal Dos Ramos via (<anibaldosramos=[email protected]>) escribi¨®:
