probably its either software settings or a messed up swr Transformer.

A troubleshooting procedure would be appreciated.

Hi David,

tnx for providing the 1.6 update.

I think it's working as expected. The Power readings are more on the output power of my IC-705 now. 1.5 hat 8.9 Watts and 1.6 shows 9.9/10 Watts on FT8.

Tuning is a little slower than 1.5 but more accurate and giving better match on some bands on my Up-and-Outer for 20m. I could use 15m now which wasn't possible before.

hi.
Next iteration for FW 1.6
10 cells for tuning you can find by address EEE0?

It was opened in Notepad++ as Intel HEX file.
1) Time to display off in minutes, 5, 0 to always on
2) time to power off in minutes, 30, 0 to always on
3) rela's delay in ms, 8
4) min power to start tuning in ten's parts, 10 (1.0 W)
5) max power to start tuning in watts, 15
6) Delta SWR to auto start tuning in ten's parts SWR 13 (SWR1.3)
7) Auto mode 1 or 0 to off
8) Calibration coefficient for 1W power, 4
9) calibration coefficient for 10W power, 11
10) Peak detector time in tens, 60 (600ms)

After changing the values you will need to change also the last bite in each modified string - checksumm.

The Tyny ATU-10 I? is working!? I had to re-solder pins 1 and 8 that activate the 100pF capacitor on relay #4.? What a terrific ATU, now that it's working.? Thank you N7DDC for designing it and providing the ""?program.? Thank you VK3PE?for providing the ?.? The helped determine the pinout.

If the connections are very short then solid copper will be fine! If long then I would use coax (screened) as any rf that is radiated may interfere with other components withing the radio. And maybe interfere with the matching process you aim to achieve. I'm no expert, but that's the way I see it. If using coax of course ground the screen to the case of the unit. Steve M7HME. ???

ATU-100 as internal tuner #atu-100

Hello everyone,
  • I'm installing an ATU-100 in the chassis of a uBITX QRP Transceiver to be used as an internal ATU. I am removing the BNC connector from the uBITX. Then I will install a BNC to the back panel of the radio. I need to know how I should connect the antenna on the uBITX to the ATU-100 and then connect the ATU-100 to the BNC on the back panel. Should I use solid copper wire for these connections? (On a previous ATU-100 that I bought the connections from the BNC connectors to the ATU-100 board was done with solid copper wire)?
  • Should I make the connections with coaxial cable (If so what size cable should I use?)

I found "Relay_Test.zip" and "Manual_Test.zip" in the Firmware directory, at the bottom of the list.? ?
(Hope this helps another newbie, like me.)

Francis, the firmware version for ATU-100 is staying the same, to change needed parameters you have to set some memory cells before? flashing processor. No any sense to do specific FW . Read the manual at the end, cells description, you will find many interesting for you .?

Sorry, I "dropped" a 0 when reading the thread.? I will look more closely at the ATU-10.? Seems like it might work for my application.

Thank you.

Re: ATU-10 new user

Bob,

First thing to check is if you get 1:1 SWR on all bands using dummy load. Then you can try with 100ohm and 200ohm dummy loads.

There are Test and Relay utilities which if you load the same way as firmware you will be able check relays and other elements.

Mine had bad soldering on one of the relays and I could tune on 80 band buy above SWR was always above 2:1.?

Good Luck

The balanced line fed doublet antenna measures 2.4 SWR when connected through a stand alone 4:1 balun to a NanoVNA.

When I connect the antenna through a stand alone 4:1 balun into the ATU-10, it clicks away and settles at 2.4 SWR.? That is the same SWR as the antenna with no tuner.

The ATU-10 actively keeps (by clicking) the SWR below 1.1 if I run the antenna through the QRPGuys Multi-Tuner and then the ATU-10.? It seems that QRPGuys tuner brings the SWR down to a level so the ATU-10 can properly hunt for a low SWR.? ?At the low SWR, as I detune the QRPGuys tuner the ATU-10 will change (click) to bring down the SWR.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi, Francis.
I think are you talking about ATU-100 tuner.
ATU-10 is a different one and works above 1 Watt independent to FW version.?

Locked Re: Firmware version 1.6 for ATU-10 #file-notice

I am aware that there is a hardware and software "hack" that will allow the Tuner to operate at QRP levels.? Is it possible to incorporate the software changes into an official QRP version.

Thank you

Thanks to all, this WF just for the test, I wanna add some things before releasing.
Most likely this FW is Always On version with 0 timing set. Not a bug, it is future.?

There¡¯s a version of 1.5 with no timeout. I didn¡¯t think that the 705 would wake it back up after an extended time. Mine is always powered via the USB cable.?

What is the timeout set to on this one? I shut off the IC-705 it was plugged into and came back maybe an hour later to tint the ATU was still on. Outside of that, 1.6 is working great.?

I was just wondering if there was an update. Once it¡¯s confirmed working could you create a version where it doesn¡¯t shut off? (I operate a lot remote away from the radio). ?It¡¯s been working great!
