Hi Paul,
Looking at the HEX file you posted the display settings you have are for the PCF8574AT, 1602 LCD display not the OLED.
Addr 00 = 4E
Addr 01 = 01

For the OLED display, the standard settings are as follows.
Addr 00 = 78
Addr 01 = 05
