A word to anybody buying the Chinese tuner: the powdered iron toroid material they use is NOT the same as the USA material, which the Russian designer used when he modified the N7DDC design to handle 1 kW. The kits that were coming out of? Ukraine (also EBAY) had USA-manufactured, Micrometals cores and they made a big point of that. The Chinese cores will not provide the proper inductance, and also heat up at a sub-rated wattage. This has been documented by other builders of the 1 kW units.?
Expect to spend another $40 USD exchanging the toroid cores and winding new coils on them. That is what I had to do on my Chinese kit. Still a lot cheaper than buying a $1,000 MFJ or SGC tuner!?
