We really do need the source posted to find the best people to continue the work.
Not only is it the language it is written in, but who has the same development?tools.?
An?example is my work, where we do a bit of C work, however our development was done in Borland builder.?
Porting from Borland to other development platforms for C is very problematic.?
If we can continue Lynn's work in the same tools he used, then we can hit the ground (mostly) running.
If we can see the code, and know the development?environment, then we can make choices on who is best suited?to work on it and carry Lynn's torch forward.?
A custodian such as the APRS Foundation?or other similar group needs to be identified so that a proper transfer of source can begin.?
Even with the intent of being open source, someone ( or group rather ) needs to have responsibility for the origin source.
