Re: AA History Lovers Messages

Hi group!

I'm all in for Jim B's idea of having a data base file that is searchable. You make it sound pretty easy Jim. But you lost me with the algorithms part. I have no idea how to create such a data base file.

I also think it would be nice to have Text, MS Word and PDF files that are searchable as well. These type of files, when their programs are updated, I'm sure the files will be updated over time as folks use them so they won't be lost.

I found an online tool that corrects the line breaks in a text file with a single click of the mouse. However, it will still require editing though speeding up the edits a bit. Here is the link to take care of the line breaks for text files:?

The line breaks can also be removed in a MS Word doc as well. Here is the link for a tutorial on removing breaks of any kind in a MS Word doc:?

If any of you would like to take a look at these Two links and you become interested in editing a text or MS Word document, that would be great, if that's OK with you Thom.

As for the PDF files - those can be done in a matter of minutes. The downfall is, the MS Word document needs to be done First in order to preserve the links for the PDF file that will be created from the MS Word document.

If it's ok with you Thom, I'm just throwing this out there as a means of tackling the task at hand.

You (anyone) can get back to me at jim.myers56@...?if you'd like to take a crack at editing one of the text or word docs. I will attach a file to a reply email and keep tabs on who has what documents. This too, is just a thought. Spreading out the work among a group will speed up the process. One thinking of how much work that needs to be done over all can be very overwhelming. If you only have One document to edit, it won't be as overwhelming to get the job done. Getting started on the One document you may have is the hard part. Once you get started and find your niche, it suddenly becomes very easy.?

Just an idea.

Ever yours,
Jim
