HABITUATION
18
We know that HABITUATION is one of the best practices for becoming proficient in CW. I'm still working at a company so I cannot get QRV every day. I participate in every MST - Medium Speed Test on Monday, AWT - A1CLUB Weekly Test, and CWT - CWops Weekly Test, both on Wednesday. I'm not a contestant, but the CALLING CQ in the contests results in better decode proficiency and also develops a tough mind toward the very fast WPM call back. hihi And then, the weekend is the time to brush up on my CW skills. "CQ SKCC" at my 7-9AM JST on Saturday and Sunday is to establish better keying on my straight key. A1NET and FEANET develop my Morse words and expressions. What is your HABITUATION? // HIRO, JJ1FXF

RandomGram #22
Dear A1CLUB members, If you are not familiar with the RandomGram or RG event, now is a good chance to participate. // HIRO, JJ1FXF -- Welcome to RandomGram Event Nr. 22 Date/Time: September 20th @ 22:00 - 23:59 UTC. That is Friday afternoon/evening for most. Objective: This is an unlimited event with 5-character alphanumeric code groups. Request as many code groups per Tx List as you like, or request additional Tx Lists. Transmit as many different code groups as you can, one per QSO. Your TX score is unlimited (2-pts per group). Also log as many code groups as you can from other operators, during QSOs and by SWL intercept (1-pt per received group) for maximum score. New TX Lists (code groups) are available now for this event. Code groups from previous events are not valid and will not score. Obtain a registered TX List by emailing your call sign to the Group Owner email address at [email protected] Multiple Same-band Contacts (dup's) are encouraged. Please use the revised procedure for making multiple same-band contacts, in effect since April; see info HERE. Teams: Teams are listed in the Roster & Results message post for this event (see below). Additional teams are available by request. Team membership is open to all and is completely optional. Operating on a team is no different than otherwise. Team scores are the sum of individual members' scores. If you're interested in joining a team for this event just email your call sign and team preference to [email protected] Suggested Frequencies: 50-60 kHz above the bottom of non-WARC HF bands, conditions permitting. Other frequencies in the band may prove better depending on your region or QRM from other ongoing events. 7028 kHz is preferable in OC & AS regions. Suggested Spotting Page: RG participants are invited to use the SKCC SkedPage at https://sked.skccgroup.com/ (SKCC Members who post or self-spot on the SkedPage-- please be prepared to provide an SKCC style exchange for callers who request it.) Operating Tips: - A transmitted group earns 2-points; a received group is 1-point if accurately transmitted, copied and reported; - Work the same stations on the same band multiple times and exchange additional code groups (see new procedure here ) - Transmit a different code group with every contact (one code group per QSO); - For additional points monitor other stations: log and submit code groups they exchange (SWL/intercept); - Submit your log or list of received code groups via email to obtain your current score and abstract of groups. For additional operating and logging guidelines see the RandomGram FAQ HERE. SWL Intercept: Even if you don't transmit any code groups you can still earn Rx points by submitting groups you have logged while monitoring other stations. Your confirmation of other stations' transmitted groups also helps them to earn Tx points. Deadline for submitting your copied groups: the sooner, the better. Other operators' scores depend on your confirmation of their transmitted groups. Roster & Results. See the list of participating stations and scores (when available) HERE. Have fun! 73, Drew - AF2Z RandomGram Mgr

HAM FAIR TOKYO 2024
5
A little over a week has passed since the HAM FAIR TOKYO 2024 and my life is starting to normal. Every time I prepare a lot for HAM FAIR and then come back home with wounds all over my body, I feel that I don't want to be involved with the next HAM FAIR. However, when some guys on the air send me like "TNX FER EYEBALL" or "ENJOYED PARTY", I start thinking about what I can do for the next HAM FAIR. hihi The following URL shows what our booth at HAM FAIR was like and the participants of KONSHIN-KAI. https://a1club.org/HAMFAIR/hamfair2024/ Thanks, JE1TRV ATSU-san for creating the webpage. Thank you, guys who visited the HAM FAIR TOKYO 2024 and the A1CLUB KONSHIN-KAI. See you all next year! 73/88, // HIRO, JJ1FXF

CW Filter for IC-706
5
Hi A1Club, I bought nice IC-706, but it did not include a narrow band CW filter. I could find some used once, selling online, but price was/is quite high. As all offerings from Japan, and I'm planning to visit Japan during summer vacation, I wonder there is a good/reliable source for such a CW filter in Japan? VY 73, Thomas - DJ1TF

Dual Beam Pro
9
Does anyone out there use "Dual Beam Pro" by Pro Antennas? https://www.proantennas.co.uk/product-page/dual-band-pro-antenna The Dual Beam Pro is a non-resonant rotary dipole antenna shortened with the capacity hat on both element ends. It needs ATU to tune; the element length is about 5m, and the price is ?270.00(1000W PEP). Compact and reasonable if it works well. Maker says that 10mH Dual Beam Pro gives; 20m @ 29degrees elevation 6.62dBi 15m @ 19degrees elevation 7.55dBi 10m @ 15degrees elevation 7.37dBi on both directions. HW? // HIRO, JJ1FXF

Need help on wabun
4
Hi A1Club, just arriving in Japan with jet lag and not yet an antenna up, I used my morse practice app: https://github.com/fritzsche/cmorse Just a simple small command line program written in C to practice sending. Key gets connected by Arduino emulating a USB Midi device. A simple decoder is showing the output of your keying in international morse. You can think of as a V-Band adapter, but optimized for low latency and the electronic keying done directly in the (close to) realtime audio thread. Just for the fun as I could not sleep I added wabun support, even I can't use wabun myself. As I might have messed it up I put it behind a compile time switch that can be activated in CMakeLists.TXT: target_compile_definitions(cmorse PUBLIC -DWABUN) The (wabun) table used by the decoder can be found in header file morse.h BEST 73 DE DJ1TF/JJ1QPB - Thomas
