Japanese CW transceiver and what is ICOM X60? 6
Dear A1Club, I'm relative new ham. Maybe some experienced hams have recommendation? Started with Yaesu FT 890 and now on ICOM 7300. What is in your experience a good upgrade when considering CW? For sure everybody has personal preference. Here is what I like for CW: - I love good CW filters (like 300Hz) and I'm missing the Audio Peaking Filter from Yaesu when switching to ICOM that just has it in higher class. - don't like relay clicks (particular on full QSK) or loud fan noise (IC 7300 is very noisy, but Yaesu seems to be not better. Any experience?). - ICOM does not support IAMBIC A and the CW settings are limited (e.g. no Ultimatic). As I started with IAMBIC A I had to relearn on IAMBIC B what is a less optimal keying mode IMHO. - CW decoder is not needed. It's nice to have, but my own copy gets bad if I look at screen of a decoder. - Not CW related: - love Icom waterfall display and usability. Not need a auto "CW zero beat" as waterfall is good enough. - don't need much power, most the time I'm QRP and even for rare DX not going 50W. For bad band condition 30W is my sweet spot. - working mostly HF. Sadly 2m / 70cm missing on most modern (CW capable) transceivers? - love Japanese products for their quality - modes: I'm 100% CW in for active QSO. Only for testing Antenna or Homebrew use digi like WSPR or FT8. No SSB. On Hamvention ICOM announced a "X60 Project". Any ideas what this could be? Some component indicate it could be high class transceiver (200w) what would be outside of my (money and power) budget :-) . Any rumors in Japan? What is your preferred CW transceiver and why do you love it? BEST 73 DE DJ1TF / JJ1QPB - Thomas

Pantelleria Isl. AF-018 2
Hello all: On the occasion of a QSY to attend to some commitments on the island of Pantelleria (IH9, African Italy, CQz 33, ITUz 28, IOTA AF-018) together with some family members, IT9BLB/IH9 and IT9VDQ/IH9 will do their best to be active during the next CQ WPX CW. The very limited space between luggage and the short stay time will allow at most a pair of barefoot SOSBs, with minimalist setups. In any case, the goal is simply to be able to be on-air, in some way and for as much free time as is available. 73 Gi¨´, IT9VDQ member: 4187 Il mar 21 mag 2024, 05:38 HIRO, JJ1FXF via groups.io <jj1fxf@...> ha scritto: A1CLUB members, Every Saturday at 10:30Z-11:30Z is the A1NET - A1CLUB weekly chat net. UV-K5 CW Mod 4
Does anyone know about the mod of UV-K5(8) or UV-K6 for CW use such as A1A or F2A TX/RX, sidetone, keyer for paddles, decoder and so on? UV-K5(8) and UV-K6 are the Chinese hand-held V/UHF transceiver at drastically low pricing. Its software mod has been popular since last year but lately I found a hardware mod replacing some circuits with the additional small PCB. // HIRO, JJ1FXF

The 23rd A1CLUB QSO PARTY
Dear A1CLUB members, The 23rd A1CLUB QSO PARTY - A1PTY has been started from May 1st and will go on until May 31st. The A1PTY is to encourage more QSOs on the air and the theme telegraph is a key to make the QSO as the A1PTY QSO. This time, the theme is "LIKE". While in your QSO, you send a telegraph that tells what you "LIKE" such as "I LIKE STRAIGHT KEYS". If you have sent it!, the QSO is counted as the A1PTY completed, even though your opponent OP hasn't sent his/her "LIKE". And the A1PTY participation prize (PDF) will be awarded if you'll have the A1PTY QSOs on 10 days in May. So please don't be surprised if some of A1CLUB members suddenly send you some "LIKE". It is a part of A1PTY QSO. hi And if you'd like to submit the results of your A1PTY QSOs, send me your ADIF file to me. Let's enjoy the A1PTY! 73/88, // HIRO, JJ1FXF

A1C OAM ¤ªÔ‡¤·¥©`¾Ö / WWR ANT 5
Youtube recommended A1C OAM video. https://youtu.be/YxTy-lF0hiI?si=wUZm6uiPvaP0VNR_ A lot work and control to run such a station. Thanks for sharing! Very interesting. On QRZ.COM I read KAZU-san running WWR And (Carbon Fishing Rod fed by ATU), this seems to be popular ANT in Japan (e.g. POTA). But do not see it in Germany as people concerned as of conductivity (like a resistor), people use Fiberglass mast to pull-up wires. Any experience? Have plans to operate JJ1QPB this summer again (Tokyo Ham Fair if possible) and wonder AH-705 tuner and carbon fiber could be an effective solution to carry). BEST 73 DE DJ1TF - JJ1QPB - Thomas
