Door does not set flush
14
Hello, 2004 Aliner Expedition, the top section of the door does not set flush , even when the door is locked. Could the hinges be sprung? I’ve placed a straight edge on the door, it is not warped. The wall is not warped, either. Any fix?thanks!

Perfect Solution To Aliner Microwave Mounting Problems
2
We bought our new Aliner Classic in 2012 and after short time noticed the wood screws backing off or falling off altogether. Then there was the the trip home from Floida were westayed the night campground with winter temperatures dipping into the lower teens. We pulled into a drive through site, hurried to get the panels up but opening the door we found the microwave laying on the floor with the cabinet that holds it collapsed. We jurry rigged the cabinet back together strong enough to get us home the next day. I then rebuilt the microwave cabinet replacing every spot that had been held together with wood screws now held together with a nut, bolt and locking washer. I also made a new mounting for the microwave to relace junk Aliner came up with. The main reason for the microwave cabinet falling apart was probably the trailer tires being out of balance causing vibration. I can't say this enough... HAVE YOUR TIRES BALANCED WHEN EVER YOU HAVE YOUR PRESENT TIRES REPLACED AT A TIRE DEALER OR YOU BUY A USED ALINER!!! Also if you have your trailer tires replaced, NEVER, EVER alow them to use the axle as a jacking point as too much pressure can bend the axle costing around $3000. The last time I hade my Aliner tires replaced (Goodyear Endurance - made in the USA)I went to a Discount TIre outlet and talked to the manager informing him that the axle was not the jacking point and the proper location WAS ON THE TRALER MAIN FRAME that with the weight of the trailer. This Discount Tire has a waiting room that overlooks the service area and just waited for the inevitable. Two employees came out with a mobil jack and placed it right on the axle. I ran out and told them the alex was not the jacking point, that instead it was the main frame and if they bend the axle it was a $3000 rep

Installing an Olympic Wave 3 Catalytic Heater to An A-frame Trailer
18
For years I tried to find a good article on how to install one of these in an RV. My (late) parents had one installed in the entryway of their large motor home decades ago. I presume they paid to have it installed. I searched everywhere and could not find what I needed. So, I spent quite a few days coming up with a combination of fittings, piping, connections, flexible hose, etc. to connect this to the propane supply lines under the Aliner. One item I felt was important was to mount it on a swinging panel so I could direct it as deemed best when it was ignited. I have used a portable Coleman catalytic heater (uses 1 pound cylinders) for decades and finally decided to buy one and then figure out how to install it. I think I came up with a very simplified solution for installing it. I found lift-off hinges that can facilitate removing the heater very easily. If anyone has thought about it and similarly failed to find an article on how to install it, maybe my article would be worth perusing. The catalytic heaters I have used have either a 1500 or 3000 btu output. I have run them on 1500 watts so they run all night. This one I bought is the smallest available and can be operated on the 1600 BTU setting for minimal heat at night or whenever it is cold inside. Refilling the one-pound cylinders has been a pain and I would rather provide propane to these directly from the 20 pound cylinder.

Issue with Tire Size
4
Hi, My 2021 Expedition Offroad came with Klever A/T 235 75 R15 tires, Load range D1 - 65 psi max, load index 110/107. I am at the 4 year mark and am going to replace these tires. However, when I check the Aliner Owners manual, it does list this size tire. based on what I have read in this forum, I am planning to buy Goodyear Endurance tires. My problem is that they do not come in this size. I can get it in a 225 75 R15 - would that be a good replacement? -- 2021 Expedition Off-road, TV 2020 Ram 1500

Storing up or down?
4
I've seen some conversation about storing the camper up vs down. We have a boat stall for the camper, but I was wondering what everyone on here recommends as far as raising the roof panels or leaving them down.

New Aliner owners seek maintenance advice

My husband and I just bought a 2024 Aliner Scout. I am wondering what the experienced owners recommend as far as regular maintenance is concerned. Thanks for any suggestions.

Skylight adhesive
4
I finally found a sealant that I like for gluing on skylights: Silpruf SCS2000. Here's the list of reasons I like it, and it's a long one: It has a relatively high tensile strength of 341 psi It sticks really well to polycarbonate It doesn't require mechanical fasteners it doesn't require a primer It lasts longer than polyurethane It doesn't get as dirty looking as polyurethane It can be cleaned better than polyurethane It's compatible with polycarbonate, so it won't make polycarbonate crack or crumble It has a long working time It tools really well, so it looks really nice when you're done It has excellent UV resistance, and doesn't need to be covered to protect it from sunlight It will stick to dried SCS2000 to allow spot repairs, or fixing voids or mistakes on initial lay down. It can be dissolved with Digesil when it needs to be removed It can be scraped off relatively easily since it's a soft rubber The skylight can be removed without too much hassle when it eventually needs to be replaced But for any sealant, test it with your polycarbonate, because bond strength differs with different grades of polycarbonate. I tested with an eztopsworldwide skylight. The only remaining question I have is why is nobody else using it? My tests show it's far superior to anything else I've seen.

Dormer seal
12
Just got our new Expedition with dormers to replace our old Expedition. Unexpected problem: any rain or dew or melting snow or ice runs in channel between roof and dormer. Not a big deal EXCEPT in front of the door! There is a river running down in front of the door! So every time you go in or out of the door you get soaked even just if it's from dew in the morning. Anyone have any suggestions to fix or control this? Dan

Window leak
Has anybody removed the large window on the A wall of a Chalet? I have a leak in mine, and am wondering how hard it is to get that thing off. It has some pretty sturdy clear glue around the perimeter that I haven't dealt with previously.

Bungee Cords
Hi All, I was thinking about some spring projects for my 2021 Aliner classic, and one is to replace the stretched and deteriorating factory bungee cords. The cords seem to come in different strengths and diameters as well as lengths. So, I was wondering what other people have used as replacements and what has worked best. Specifically, I would be interested in the best diameter and strength as well as what length I might need for my camper.

Santa Ana winds
3
We've been having some Santa Ana winds out here in California, which are the same ones responsible for all the fires. I had a fly fishing trip over the weekend, and the winds at my destination weren't predicted to be too bad, so I went. Early on Saturday morning, the winds hit me, and were much higher than predicted. Gusts must have been around 50. But the nasty part was the leading edge of the gusts hit like a fist and really shook the Aframe. I couldn't see anything outside because it was pitch black out. But I could tell that the winds were hitting the door side, because that was getting pelted by sand and pebbles. I had the stabilizer jacks down pretty firm, but the gusts hit so hard that I thought the stuff on the A wall shelves was going to fly off. The wheel chocks I have are those light weight hollow yellow plastic ones, and they blew away from the wheel on the windward side of the trailer. Luckily the trailer still didn't move though. I guess I've got to get some of those heavy solid rubber ones. The winds were predicted to die down at 8 am, then resume at 10 am. But the prediction for the drive home, if I went the next day, were winds gusting up to 65 mph. The winds did die as predicted at 8 am. So I folded up the trailer and got the heck out of there. The trailer held up fine. I have the wind straps to hold the roof halves together. I also have 2 poles mounted crosswise between the A walls, to keep them from collapsing inwards. But when the wind is howling, the trailer is shaking, and all the hinges and joints in the roof system are creaking and squeeking, there's no way I could fall asleep. It was quite the adventure. Hard dormer slide question
I have a 2015 Classic with hard dormers and the front dormer wall connection to the roof section does not slide very well anymore. It seems like something in the slide connector is dragging on the roof channel, there is a black streak in the center of the channel. Is there a mounting bolt that could have loosened up on the wall section and now hitting the roof channel? How do I get access to this area? JoeS

Retrofitting hard dormers
2
I have a 2017 Aliner Classic with two soft dormers. The camper stays set up on the driveway between trips. However, the dormer canvas is prone to mildew in Florida's humidity. Keeping it clean has been an ongoing challenge. The canvas is attached to the dormer structure with screws, so it looks like switching to hard dormers shouldn't be too difficult (assuming I can locate some). Any thoughts?

Thirteen- or 14-inch tires?
7
So I have an Aliner Ranger 12 (2021) with the LoadStar 13-inch tires and I want to get new tires for 2025. Everyone tells me to go with the Goodyear Endurance; but they don't come in 13-inches. What to do? Will 14-inch tires fit on my Ranger 12 and existing rims? If not, what is the best brand for 13-inch new tires? Thanks in advance.
