Locked Re: Home At Last (Rena/Henry/Pool/etc)

"Yes, you have changed my life since the moment you entered it, and filled it with pleasure. Alas, I begin to sound like one of those sickened lovers in one play or another. I don't even know you so well, and yet, something about you caught my attention so fiercely that it could not be denied.
?
Poole has been there from the beginning indeed. He has been with me through some difficult times and supervised the training of several generations of my servants. He has more understanding than most, methinks, and greater tolerance for the things he understands not. There are perhaps very few things I would not confide in him, but then some I could only tell my preacher and nobody else. That seems to be the natural state of things and is not against Poole as a person. I suppose I am biased because I am used to him and the ones he trained. But I do not believe in?novelty for its own sake. why not let things that work fine be, I say?" Henry half wondered philosophically, motivated by Rena's insight to think more introspectively than usually.
?
"I must admit to not knowing what it is like to live above society. I heard rumors, I managed to pierce the veil of mystery in some high positioned houses, but there is scant truthful information about our peerage, let alone the royal house itself. And it is as it should, indeed, to say otherwise would be treason, but my curiosity at times does make me wonder, what it would be like. It doesn't seem like even extreme money can make up for highest status, but I did hear and read about the situation changing where you come from. They say Americans are more liberal these days, and gathering from what you said, that might be true..."
?
At first puzzled by the sudden transition, and transfixed by Rena's seemingly mysterious expression. Hyde was at last able to place the subject at hand and he predatorily smiled. There was something in him that craved more, out of life, he supposed. This wasn't going to change things radically, but it could be a start. "The old guy, yes something must be done about him," Henry agreed playfully, his eyes half closing instinctively in anticipation of the pleasure to come.
