Pool was soon fast asleep, but Mary was much slower in falling asleep, and when she finally did, her sleep was fitful to say the least. ?It was barely dawn when she awoke, muttering under her breath something undetectable about having to find clothes for the new mistress; she made her way quietly down the hall, to a room where various dresses and other articles of clothing were kept. ?She found an elegant looking black silk dress, trimmed in white lace around the him, and around the neck line; this should do well enough, she murmured to herself, taking the dress and putting it aside. ?She also found an evening dress of various shades of blue, studded in various stones, diamonds, sapphires and rubies. ?She also found several pairs of under hose which had not been worn, and another dress, also silk, this one being maroon, black and white. ?There was also a dress of dark pink and light blue, several dresses with flowers on them, all silk, with ruffles and lace on them of different colors. ?She was diligent in making certain that the dresses were elegant, yet lightweight, so that Reena could easily move about in them. ?She also chose four different pairs of shoes, all in either black, or black and white patent leather, and one with diamonds on the toes; two of the pairs of shoes were high heels, the other two were medium heels. ?She carefully ?carried this bundle of clothing back to her own room, laying them all out, making certain that they were no wrinkles. When the doctor and mistress rang for the servants, Mary would carry the clothes to lady Rena, and allow her to examine them, and either approve or disapprove, however she chose. ?There, that is done, she said aloud to the empty room, giving a weary, but triumphant sigh, ? feeling satisfied within herself that she had, at least for the moment, outsmarted the mistress, and perhaps won a few more hours sleep for herself; Pool won't be the only one sleeping late, she murmured with only the air to hear her.???
