within its limits. to read all about it and its sisters and brothers. Just buy direct from http//www.homier.com saves hassles with ebay sellers and no worries about warranty hassles. Bob On 26 Dec 2002, at 22:01, lokinb lokinb@... wrote:

I have this same lathe, and I got it off ebay for $299. So far I am
happy with this lathe, although I am afraid you can't expect the lathe to do all the things its bigger brothers can do. Although it can do internal, external threads, tapers, turning between centers and stuff, jsut on a much smaller scale. There are many modifications you yourself can make to this little machine to make it even better, this is the best bang for the buck. I also reccomend going through Homier.com rather than ebay, shipping may differ by about 8 bucks more, the ebay is a big hassle IMO. Hope I helped! Sean BTW check out www.mini-lathe.com they have a comprehensive review on this very lathe. --- In 7x12minilathe@..., Jerry Smith <jfsmith@a...> wrote: This the HF, Grizzly and other brands mini lathe. Hi again
I found an auction on ebay for the 7X12 mini bench lathe made by speed way. ViewItem&item=3102472367&category=25288 Is tis a good choice at only 300.00 dolars I am not sure and would hate to buy it and have to buy another 6 months later cause it wont do all the things I want. basically I want the lathe to do all the things a large lathe can just on a smaller scale. turning theads on the outside as well as on the inside of a piece. shapeing and cutting. any input you can give as to the suitability of this unit would be greatly appreciated. thanks Lokinb |

I would be VERY intrested in a DRO kit to start out with, for budget
reason I would love a CNC but I don't make enough $$ Prices would be nice! and Pictures Sean --- In 7x12minilathe@..., Jerry Smith <jfsmith@a...> wrote: Bhagwan,a Harbor Freight Drill Mill machine model 42976. Since there are many of us here who may be interested, why don't you put a package together with some photos for us to look at? I'm sure special pricing for our group would also generate additional sales. Most of us here have a 7x10, 7x12, or 7x14 mini-lathe as well as I'm sure there are also several mini-mill owners. Maybe you could put together a complete DRO package for the lathes and mill and let us know? Regards, Brice ----- Original Message -----

new to the group and looking to buy.

Hello to all.
I Just joined the group and am looking for advice on which mini Lathe and mill to buy. I have been looking around and the prices seem about the same for most of them. I like the Micro mark 7X14 but I use metric allot and would prefer one with millimeter knobs on it. Am looking to get the lathe first and then the mill. Will be useing them for model making and for parts replacement on the instuments I work on for a living.. any advice you can give me would be great. thanks in advance for your input. Lokinb |

Do you have a retrofit DRO kit for the mill/drills like Harbor Freight sells? What do you have to added to the 7 x 10 lathe that would help automate some of the process of the lathe? Do you ship to the states and Canada? Jerry At 08:56 PM 12/24/2002 +0000, you wrote:

Re. "You must have been a good boy this year!"
Actually I think I have been pretty well behaved this year but the wife might have a another opinion when she sees the bills for all of the tooling I'm buying. Frank your web site is great. I'm in the process of building the carriage stop and lock and your text and pictures are really helpful for a novice like me. I'm looking forward to the cam action tool post and hopefully other interesting projects and topics. Have a Happy and safe Holiday, Pat |

Hi All,
Just discovered this group and I'm impressed with the amount of good info and helpful and knowledgeable members. I've only had my 7 x 10 for a few weeks but so far I'm having a ball, making piles of chips and gadgets, some actually useful. I also bought a minimill but as it's a christmas present for me, the wife says it stays under the tree untill christmas. I can harly wait. Pat in San Diego |
