Uploading Photos and Files to [email protected].
Hi all
Dave made several pleas for how to add photos and I find can't add Documents to the files section either. I said in the last msg about the Fix for Vertical Squareness' document I attached that I HAD added it to the files section, as that was going to be my next action and I'd done it before (last time in April), That was before I found I COULDN"T add it.?? Now Dave's new photos, that several members admired enough to msg back,? are gone and if you didn't download the Fix... ' file its gone too I'm pretty sure its systemic so I sent the message below to the 'Help' email address on the home page Topic: 'Cant add photos or files' Message: ' I believe this is a software glitch ?as I was able to do it (last time April’20 for a File) ? Now the ‘+New’ button (in the Files section) delivers no dropdown box so you can’t proceed. There is now no facility to add new photos to existing albums, just to add new Albums .? Photos and Files will attach to a message, and can be seen and read by other, but only temporarily and then they disappear. Photos also appear in a ‘Photos Attached to Messages” album but that’s only temporary too. You can create a new album? as I did (Test album – to test whether can create a new album 10Dec20), and its open to all members to add to, BUT access to the ‘+Add? Photos’ button is denied with a red circle slashed across. These functions are important to to operation of our group, pls help – John Vreede' |
I did some experimentation.? i first selected the test album.? then moved the cursor over the add photo button.? it indicated that i could not do that.
so, i then created a new album, and set it up with group rights.? then i did the same thing with the same results. there are some group permissions for this group that are not setup correctly.? fix that, and this problem will go away. |
I tried the same procedure with other groups i belong to here, and i can add photos to any album i create, and there are some i can add to that i did not create.? this is not a software glitch, its just not configured right.? its either in the rights that are given to the albums, or its in the rights given to the subscribers.? probly one or the other.
|
I tried to upload an image to John's test album and was not permitted.
I tried to contact help and the group owner on 11/19.? ?I sent messages to: '[email protected]' 'mailto:[email protected]' The owner email bounced back to me.? ?There has been no reply to the help email. I guess that one has to contact someone up the food chain on the groups.io org. |
That sounds like the group is getting close to full (i.e., closing in the 1gb storage limit for free groups) and is set to delete attachments to keep itself going.? Bill in OKC William R. I just looked at files and photos folders, and there are 926mb of files, 204mb of photos. The group is just about full.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) What does that mean Bill (or anyone who knows)??? 1. Do we have to delete content that is no longer applicable - I can't even get at stuff I originated before the changeover. (Joseph Melhorn and Walter Townsend are the 'owners' of that now).? A small number of items could be obvious culls but the rest is, like, who knows what will be of interest in the future and we can never get back stuff that gets deleted. 2. Do we have to pay for more storage space? - if so, how do we get that together? 3. Are there other?options? - jv On Fri, Dec 11, 2020 at 2:26 PM Bill in OKC too via <wmrmeyers=[email protected]> wrote:

Pretty much one or the other. My choice would be to upgrade the group, but I believe it would be at least $220 per year. The one paid group I own was transferred before the rush last year, and was grandfathered to the old rate. Newer groups cost more because Mark Fletcher had to buy a lot of new server space because there was so much demand and such a short deadline.? I can probably afford to kick in a fiver to upgrade, but not much more than that, myself. I've spent about $5k on medical & dental stuff in the past 4 or 5 months, and looking at about as much again in the next few weeks. So far.? My metal shapers group is currently using about 1.5gb for files and folders. Premium Groups were 10gb back then, 20gb now. $20/month now, believe you would pay $220/year billed annually.? In either case, it needs the owner(s) to deal with it.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) 开云体育I created this Group just before Yahoo went tits-up. Walt asked if he could take it over, which was fine with me, as I really don’t have the knowledge to manage the group settings. That being said, if there is anyone else that’s active on this group and would like to be an admin, I’ll see what I have to do to make that happen. 开云体育How many of the images are too large ? People often upload images of 2-3 Mb size when they could (should) be resized to, say, 1024 x 768, which usually results in an image of about 200Kb size. Still perfectly viewable at that resolution. Is it feasible to download, resize, and re-upload

Most of the material is in files, only 204mb in photos. Personally, I like higher resolution photos. I get more info from them. Naturally, YMMV. William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Hi Bill
I just checked the files for one that could be deleted, but I figure you got the numbers backward 924MB in photos and 204MB in files so the major one is photos.. I agree the high res photos are best if you're trying to get detail. Seems that subgroups are the go. File existing photos in a subgroup so new photos , all the files and messages stay with the main group? - jv |
Pretty sure you're going to find that only works on premium groups. And even there it shares the total space of the group, which is 20gb. Next step up is enterprise groups, and those are $200/month and 1tb of storage. /static/pricing Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) If you're talking about the saw, that's great IF you have one. I don't, as mine was a Craigslist find. It fired up where I bought it, but tripped the inverter that was running it. I figured it was just too much current for a small inverter, and paid the man the $100 he wanted. It's a bit rusty, but I've got some other restoration project tools that are in worse shape, so I didn't sweat it. Got it home, and NOTHING happens!? I have downloaded several manuals from various sources, as they all seem to be close, but there is a bunch of info on this group from folks who have worked on several of the various brands. Looks like a valuable resource to me.? If you're talking about the group itself, it's a bit easier to RTFI. If you log into the groups.io homepage, on the top right there is a help button. You don't really need to be logged in to see it, but you might as well. It gives you a button for the owner's manual, user's manual, FAQ, and some other good info. The owner's manual can be downloaded as a PDF, or read as a one-page (long!) document.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.)
