Re: HF 4x6

Hi Ed,

I understand what you are talking about. I will even agree that the
saws may not be made by the same company, never implied that they
were. But I bet you that the price to HF & to Homier are with-in a
few cents of each other. These saws are a cheap in for the home shop
hobbist. Not running them down but they are the low end, entry level
machines and if there was that much of a difference in the costs to
the Wholesalers, then doesn't it stand to reason that all the tool
sellers would be buying from the same company. The basis was on
comparitability. As Clint pointed out in his post, both saws are the
same except for their decals etc.

One other thing about useing Homiers flyer to get a better price
from HF, is that HF would have to ship the item to me at their cost.
I was in the store so there were NO shipping fees for them to pay.
When you edit out the shipping costs HFs price starts getting down
inline with Homiers price. I wouldn't call up the store manager of
the HF store and ask him to send me the item at Homiers price with
HF paying the shipping.

If you will look through Homiers site and HFs site you will see
several items( Mill/drills, Sand Blasting Cabinets etc) that are
the same but the price is far apart, thats because of HFs policy of
free shipping with any purchase over $50. I feel that when I am
standing there in the store that the shipping should be discounted
from the price.

Best Regards to All!!

You could say this about most of the HF tools and say a Makita.
We all

There are plenty of past posts on how parts interchangeability

I think I recall reading that Homier was made in the PRC while my

Hello Ed,

I am sorry you feel that way. I checked all the specs that were sent
to me about the Homier saw and they were equivelant to the HF. The
speed rates, table size, weight, motor type etc. Every thing either
matched or was really close. The Harbor freight store manager looked
it all over real good and said that they were comparable saws, if
not He said he could not have price matched. And the same for the
Auto dollies. As a matter of fact some of the wording in the
specifacations was verbatim betwen the 2 ads. There was never a
problem with comparatability between the saws of=r the dollies, just
that thye HF manager was quoting his overhead. Due tio this, I do
beleive that the 2 saws are the sam or are of a comparitable make,
manufacture & quality.

I have a very clear conscious about the matter. If you have
disparaging evidence that disputes this, then by all means e-mail to
me or post on this board. If I agree with I will gladly admit my
wrong doing and will post a message condeming the use of the so
called Homier ad.

sides to every story.

Sounds like 4x6 envy! 8-)

Wish I could have got my bandsaw for 99 Bucks!

There are several versions of this saw (at least 2). I looked at the saw
from Harbor Freight and from other dealers. I chose one from Rex Supply
because it has a heavier upper frame and cast iron blade guides. (hf has
pressed metal guides) But I think one is about as good as the other.

The main thing is you do not have to dread cutting metal (with a
hacksaw) anymore.

Do you Yahoo!?
Yahoo! Hotjobs:

HF 4x6

Steve Hebert

Thought I'd share my HF purchase experience. I printed out the word
file Homier.doc and took it to the HF in Greensboro,NC. The manager
said he could not honor the request because the sale wasn't current
(Homier no longer carries the saw). I told him that the HF policy was
to honor sale prices for a year. He said that wasnt true. Went home
and checked the Web site, where the "About Us" section clearly states
that policy. Called the manager back and had him look up the web
site. He again tried to not sell me the saw, saying that the policies
for the online store were different from the stores. I said that the
stores were supposed to honor anything the Web site advertised, and
he reluctantly said he would sell me the saw for 99.99 but only this
one time(That made zero sense to me, but heck I only need one saw).
Got the saw today, put it together, and it is GREAT. Havent replaced
the blade with the bimetal, and it still cuts great. Dead on square
and very smoothe. Most all the parts are cast, and it is made in
Taiwan(never thought I'd be saying that as a recommendation!) Good
blade guides. Motor seems fine.
Happy chipmaking
Steve

Re: High Priced HF 4x6 on Ebay

Got mine Weds, if they start to hassle you over it, just point out
that their "Terms & Conditions" say any price with in 1 yr, even
a "SALE" price. Don't threaten them(you may have to deal with them
again) but explain that you will call the Corporate Office in Calif
and see why this particular store doesn't follow company policy. It
worked for me. The Mgr started to give me some run a round and when
I quoted the policy and said I had talk to Corporate, he was more
than happy to give me the price.

Anyways, "GOOD LOCK"
