Re: HF 4x6

Hi Ed,
I understand what you are talking about. I will even agree that the saws may not be made by the same company, never implied that they were. But I bet you that the price to HF & to Homier are with-in a few cents of each other. These saws are a cheap in for the home shop hobbist. Not running them down but they are the low end, entry level machines and if there was that much of a difference in the costs to the Wholesalers, then doesn't it stand to reason that all the tool sellers would be buying from the same company. The basis was on comparitability. As Clint pointed out in his post, both saws are the same except for their decals etc. One other thing about useing Homiers flyer to get a better price from HF, is that HF would have to ship the item to me at their cost. I was in the store so there were NO shipping fees for them to pay. When you edit out the shipping costs HFs price starts getting down inline with Homiers price. I wouldn't call up the store manager of the HF store and ask him to send me the item at Homiers price with HF paying the shipping. If you will look through Homiers site and HFs site you will see several items( Mill/drills, Sand Blasting Cabinets etc) that are the same but the price is far apart, thats because of HFs policy of free shipping with any purchase over $50. I feel that when I am standing there in the store that the shipping should be discounted from the price. Best Regards to All!! Hi BK,
I don't have a problem with you doing it. I just don't think everyone on the web should expect their local HF to cut them a deal like this. If they want to price match fine, but I have seen some customers go a little overboard in this respect... Sounds like 4x6 envy! 8-)
Wish I could have got my bandsaw for 99 Bucks! There are several versions of this saw (at least 2). I looked at the saw from Harbor Freight and from other dealers. I chose one from Rex Supply because it has a heavier upper frame and cast iron blade guides. (hf has pressed metal guides) But I think one is about as good as the other. The main thing is you do not have to dread cutting metal (with a hacksaw) anymore. Leo (pearland, tx) |
Re: HF 4x6

Hello Ed,
I am sorry you feel that way. I checked all the specs that were sent to me about the Homier saw and they were equivelant to the HF. The speed rates, table size, weight, motor type etc. Every thing either matched or was really close. The Harbor freight store manager looked it all over real good and said that they were comparable saws, if not He said he could not have price matched. And the same for the Auto dollies. As a matter of fact some of the wording in the specifacations was verbatim betwen the 2 ads. There was never a problem with comparatability between the saws of=r the dollies, just that thye HF manager was quoting his overhead. Due tio this, I do beleive that the 2 saws are the sam or are of a comparitable make, manufacture & quality. I have a very clear conscious about the matter. If you have disparaging evidence that disputes this, then by all means e-mail to me or post on this board. If I agree with I will gladly admit my wrong doing and will post a message condeming the use of the so called Homier ad. As always thogh, everybody has their own opinion and there are 2 sides to every story. Good day & Regards to All!!! I think you are abusing HF and misstating their polices. The HF and Homier band saws aren't the same saw even if they look about the same in the flyers. Ed On Mon, 2004-01-12 at 08:59, bkfan2001 wrote:

Hey Steve,
Glad to hear you got the saw. I can't blame the HF Managers for not wanting to sell their items at a reduced price, it cuts in to their "Bottom Line" at the end of the year. However, they choose to work for HF and even though they don't like honoring HFs policies, they pretty much have to. As I said, I got my saw for $99.99 and tne dollies that were originally $79.99 on sale for 1/2 price at $39.99 and with the Homier ad I got them for $19.99. Hey Rob, check out the link below for Homiers web site. Regards to All!! BK |

Thanks - will give it a try. Both this and another site imply a MAPP setup will be sufficient. I'll definitely be finding out.

HF 4x6
Steve Hebert
Thought I'd share my HF purchase experience. I printed out the word
file Homier.doc and took it to the HF in Greensboro,NC. The manager said he could not honor the request because the sale wasn't current (Homier no longer carries the saw). I told him that the HF policy was to honor sale prices for a year. He said that wasnt true. Went home and checked the Web site, where the "About Us" section clearly states that policy. Called the manager back and had him look up the web site. He again tried to not sell me the saw, saying that the policies for the online store were different from the stores. I said that the stores were supposed to honor anything the Web site advertised, and he reluctantly said he would sell me the saw for 99.99 but only this one time(That made zero sense to me, but heck I only need one saw). Got the saw today, put it together, and it is GREAT. Havent replaced the blade with the bimetal, and it still cuts great. Dead on square and very smoothe. Most all the parts are cast, and it is made in Taiwan(never thought I'd be saying that as a recommendation!) Good blade guides. Motor seems fine. Happy chipmaking Steve |

Got mine Weds, if they start to hassle you over it, just point out
that their "Terms & Conditions" say any price with in 1 yr, even a "SALE" price. Don't threaten them(you may have to deal with them again) but explain that you will call the Corporate Office in Calif and see why this particular store doesn't follow company policy. It worked for me. The Mgr started to give me some run a round and when I quoted the policy and said I had talk to Corporate, he was more than happy to give me the price. Anyways, "GOOD LOCK" Best Regards BK --- In 4x6bandsaw@..., "Steve Hebert" <swh@t...> wrote: There is a file in the file section which has a Word version ofthe sale price which you can print out and take with you. There is a file in the file section which has a Word version of the
sale price which you can print out and take with you. I am going to go tomorrow and see if it works. Someone on another board reported that it did but they had to insist. Me too, I got to thinking that when I get that MONSTER 30" throat
verticle (The one I want to build the RPC for) moved in to the shop that it might be to my advantage to have a small saw around. Also will be a lot easier for sawing multiple slices, not having to stand right there hand feeding the stock. Best Regards BK |

Would you beleive that I got mine today at the HF Store in Memphis, TN for $99.99. One of the group members here sent me a copy of the Homier Flyer. When I presented it, they tried to give me a little bit of run a round about how they have overhead that Homier doesn't and that Homiers price was $10 less than store cost. I asked about their beat everybodys price with in 1 year GUARANTEE and he said what do you mean, so I quoted it to him and said I have a copy out in the car. Well he said alright then and then I also hit him up for a couple of sets of the vehicle dollys to roll cars around in the shop. O)n line and in the catalog they are $79.99pr or 4 at $119.99. Homier has the very same ones for $19.99pr. As it turns out, they were having a special on them for $39.99pr so he said he would go ahead and match that price but if they were still $79.99 it would have been NO Way. To make a long story short, I ended up leaving with the saw and 2 sets of dollies, tax and all $166.02 including the purchase of the Extended Service Protection. Didn't thick that was too bad getting it all for about 1/2 price. If anybody else is still wanting a saw, they are still honoring the Homier ad.
