Anyone else trying this?? Any successes?
My metal bandsaw is too new to need to fix a blade, but have brazed quite a few for my wood bandsaw. I have a block of 1 inch wood with a notch cut in the top about two inches long and an inch deep. Across the top I have two steel clamps that hold the blade in place with the ends ground taper and lined up. Put a short piece (about an 16th inch long) piece of silver solder on the joint, flux and heat with a propane torch. When the solder melts it is pulled into the joint and the blade (with a touch of a Dremel grinder is ready to use)
Someday I must build a metal version, and a jig to taper grind the ends of the broken blade.
