Re: Zeiss jena sonnar nr2552394 contax fit.

This lens will be a great addition to someones outfit then based on your experience with uncoated jena sonnar will. ?I was given a contax 2 camera by my Dad at the same time as this lens. ?It seems it was manufactured in the same year as this lens 1939. ?I have decided to sell this lens to pay for the repair of the jammed shutter on the contax.?

Greetings to All! I have a very similar 1.5 Jena Sonnar with a earlier serial number 2188102. I came upon it a few years ago on Ebay. Mine is definitely not "T" coated but it renders very beautifully wide open(i.e. dreamy) but quickly becomes very sharp but with a character that is quite unique at f2 and beyond. Wouldn't be without it. It has stops to F11. Am I to understand this lens was manufactured in 1913 based on the serial # chart? If so, truly remarkable lens. This lens is included in a batch of 3000 lenses completed 3 June
1939.? It does not appear to be coated, as judged from the photos,
lacking any sort of amber or other color highlights.? No "T"
markings either, but that alone is not dispositive.?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe date comes from a publication called Frabikationsbuch
PhotooptikII, Carl Zeiss Jena by Hartmut Thiele.? Mr. Thiele
complied the data in the book from Zeiss factory records.? The
lens in question appears to be in standard Contax mount.? The rear
portion of the lens mount is probably black so as to minimize
reflective surfaces that could adversely affect lens performance-
this is standard feature on CZJ lenses of the period. On 8/5/2016 8:18 AM, Stefan Arnold

Re: Zeiss jena sonnar nr2552394 contax fit.
According to the Carl Zeiss Jena serial number, the lens was made in 1939. ?Jena lenses usually were not coated until after WW2, but some were coated just before and during WW2. ?I have a Super Ikonta 533-16 BX with lens number 2623007 which would indicate it also was made in 1939, but the camera was assembled postwar as it has an asterisk after the body number although the lens IS coated. ?The lens you are inquiring about might have been factory coated or sent to the factory to be coated postwar. ? EGroups became a possession of Yahoo in December, 2000. Hence ZICG became a Yahoo group. --- POSTING TO ZICG The ZICG list was set up for people who want to discuss anything Zeiss. ZICG is a collection of Zeiss authorities and enthusiasts brought together through the medium of email to share knowledge as friends. Anybody can be a member and nobody has ever been banned. You cannot send attachments. If you want to share a file, put it on a website and post the URL to the list. Remember that .vcf files (vcards) are classified as attachments. Re: Super Ikona A (531) serial numbers
Hi Maurice, I suppose the bodynumber is O 97306. Question: is it followed by an * (asterisk)?? If so, one of the major assumptions here, at the ZICG, the camera is assembled using (also) parts from the existing inventory (being pre-war or wartime). ciao, Hans de Groot On Sunday, July 17, 2016 7:22 AM, "mckay3d@... I recently acquired a nice Super Ikonta A.
Body Nr. 097306? Lens: Carl Zeiss Jena 7.5cm Tessar Nr. 3073288. The lens is coated and has a red T. From reading Charles Barringer's 2006 article in Zeiss Historica, I think this camera may be a post WWII camera made using some pre-war parts. Any comments will be appreciated. Maurice |
