Per Hans-Jurgen Kuc in "Auf den Spuren der Contax" the nested lens case version is the first, followed by the vertical lens case and finally the three lenses side by side in the front of the case. ?The post war case followed the layput of the third version.
Sorry I cannot date them, but the second version was pictured in the 1938 General catalog.

Before WWII, Zeiss Ikon made a whole series of Contameters (1338-1343). Each Contameter in its series appears to have gone through three different models. In one series, the closeup lenses are nested to the left of the case, one on top of the other with a ribbon to lift them out. In another series, the three closeup lenses lie side-by-side toward the front of a shallow case with a clasp to secure the lid. In the third series, the three lenses sit vertically to the left of a deeper case without a clasp.
My question is: Which came first? Which came second and third? And what would be the approximate dates for each model? Trying to make sense of the variations. Thanks, WES LODER
