Francine,

Thank you for these links.? I was thinking about what you said about being in Catholic school when you were introducing your comic.? I remember vividly Sister Anastasia taking out the girls and Father coming in to speak with the boys.? He talked a lot about us being temples of the Holy Spirit and avoiding "self-abuse."? Unfortunately, for the naive ones among us, he never explained what that was!???? I do have to say, though, that for the three years I was in Catholic school (my dad was in the Air Force, so we moved around a lot) I have nothing but good memories of the nuns we had.? And they provided me the basis of my education that got me through college and law school.? It was a very poor parish, but they taught us well.

Anyway, thanks for your continued support of our group--it's a lot of fun and spurs me to improve my art.

Jim

Mayu Online?

"We can't lose this community!"

Members have expressed concern about losing the valuable connections of our Mayu community. In nine years we have created a rich network of resources and camaraderie.

Will it continue?
That's up to you!

Cierra McNamara, Mayu's founder, will be stepping away from all responsibilities after closing the center. Mayu Board member, A.C. Hill, will continue moderating Mayu's Instagram page.

We are looking for one or more Mayu friends to moderate Mayu's Facebook page.

To maintain Mayu's website, Meetup calendar, and newsletter requires approximately $150 a month. Could you assist with finances or content?

Please email info@mayusanctuary with your ideas.

A Message from Mayu's Board Chair

Thank you to all of you who have been with Mayu through this hard time.?Your messages of support to Cierra and to Mayu have demonstrated the?connecting power of what Mayu?means to us all.?

Many of you have asked if there are ways to help Mayu or to support Cierra through this difficult stage. We are sincerely moved by your generosity.

As you may know, Mayu's debts now exceed assets and Cierra, our founder, is the personal guarantor for Mayu's debts. Every dollar Mayu earns for the next several weeks - whether through services, the liquidation sale, or donations - will help reduce Mayu's debt, and possibly avert a personal bankruptcy for Cierra.

Contributions can be made online or by check, made out to "Mayu." Checks can be mailed to 1804 S. Pearl Street, Denver, CO 80210. Donations must be received by Thursday, October 15th.

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely?
Deborah Dale Brackney
Chair, Board of Directors

SMC donations

HI all, as many of you know, Shambhala Mountain Center, where we held so many lovely sesshin, was damaged in the Cameron Peak fire. While the staff were evacuated and are safe, some did lose possessions and buildings as well as trees burned (photos on the website). I have heard from some of you wanting to donate towards rebuilding; the leadership is asking that you either use their facebook page or the donate section on their website (). Thank you for your generosity, Gassho, Karin

Re: Assistance for Mike 10/14

I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy at the VA hospital on 10/14. I am required to be accompanied by someone who can drive me to and from the appointment leaving my house at 0630 and returning home approximately 1200. My wife Jann is out of town due to a serious illness in her family and probably won't be back by then. Can anyone in the sangha help? Otherwise I can reschedule for a later time.

Seonjoon

Hi all,

I've been sad to miss Open Create the past month (or more!). With the school year starting--and board meetings and tournaments--I'm simply overwhelmed and have scaled back on screen time and meetings, even when it means not participating in things I love.

I hope everyone is well!?

Kindly,
sjy
