This book has been years in the making, and its publication is timed to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the release of Weather Report's debut album. In the process of writing it, I?interviewed or corresponded with over eighty individuals connected with the band, including nearly all of the musicians who performed with Weather Report either live or on record. This makes me wonder: We know that Weather Report's first album was released in the U.S. by the end of May. Did it receive a delayed release in the U.K. and in Europe? This caused me to go have a look at the archives. Melody Maker's review of Weather Report was published in the Oct. 23, 1971 issue—well after the U.S. release, and long after Down Beat's review, which appeared in the May 27, 1971 issue. So maybe it did get a delayed release overseas. Curt Bianchi All Messages By This Member #48 开云体育 Hi Pierre, Yes, I am aware of?Christophe Delbrouck's book, but I don't read French and haven't read it. I have read Peter's book and I enjoyed it. As you suggest, the focus is much broader than Weather Report and covers Peter's entire career and life. That said, it's a fun read and has plenty of Weather Report-related material. You will get a different perspective about Joe Zawinul than you will find anywhere else. I believe that Peter kept a journal in those days, and he recalls numerous anecdotes that highlight Joe's keen and cutting sense of humor. Also, I have the Apple Books eBook version, and it contains hundreds and hundreds of photographs, many of them from the Weather Report years. By the way Peter Erskine’s book, while more of an autobiography, has an extensive section on his Weather Report Years. As someone else mentioned, the e-book is the only way to go. There are audio and video clips and way more photos than the paperback edition. (I do have the paperback, signed by Peter.) And there are 100s of bonus pics, many from the Japan tour. Not to be missed.? A bit off topic, but I find it terrible disappointing that Tony Zawinul couldn’t get it together to finish the movie. I contributed to that production and got some swag, but I really wanted to see that film. Does anyone know what happened to that project??
