In Afrikaans, however, it’s dealt with differently: 1)????? The two nouns must be written together. This rule is cast in concrete (pun intended), i.e. “betoningenieur”. 2)????? As “reinforced concrete” translates as “gewapende beton”, we would now get “gewapende betoningenieur”, which means an armed engineer specialising in constructions made with concrete.
