Yesterday USA Red:

?

Yesterday USA Red and Blue along with REPS and SPERDVAC internet stations? along with several other music streams have moved to a new server.

For the next several days, the only way to hear the stations is with is with this direct set of links.

Currently, links are only available for Yesterday USA red and blue.

Eventually they and all the other stations will be updated on the various internet services such as Alexa, oTunes and Tune in just to name a few.

For now, the only time you'll hear anything is when we are on live. At the moment, other audio still needs to be uploaded so there will be the sounds of silence until that has been done.

We'll be on with Mike HIngson tonight at 10:30 Eastern and 7:30 Pacific.

We'll feature the Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall Concert from 1950.

Server Update

开云体育

Hi all,

I mentioned a few days ago that we had a server crash that took out all of our stations on the platform and caused us to go down.

The material is all retrievable but everything on the server went including all shows from our weekly DJ’s and hosts.

We will be gradually adding material back during the next few weeks.

Live shows are expected to return if all goes according to plan on Monday evening.

Please be patient if this does not happen, but we expect to be on the air with the nightly live shows.

We have recorded some of what you missed during this last week and will be replaying it as soon as time allows.

Thank you for your understanding.

Our thanks to Corey Harker who has shouldered the immense responsibility of building the new server for us.

He worked many long hours to do this

Thank you for all your hard work Corey.? We definitely appreciate everything you have done for Yesterday USA and all of the other stations along the network.

Yesterday USA Platform is down

开云体育

Hi all,

All of the stations on the platform are currently down.? We hope to have them up and running perhaps by Monday the 16th.? We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

There is still a signal going to automation, so anything scheduled previously is still playing.? But anything uploaded going forward including all live shows will not air.

So anyone for instance who wanted to listen to the YesterdayUSA Radio Once More Simulcast will need to go to Radio Once More to listen this evening.

As soon as we are up and running we will let you know.

We will be moving to a new server and once there, some testing is in order.

Please be patient and stay tuned.

Tech issues

开云体育

Hi all,

Just a few words of explanation about the last few live shows.

Our Kathryn Crosby rebroadcast of the Frank and Walden interview did air on Friday.

But beginning on both Sunday and Monday we had some issues which did not allow us to play the show concerning Greer Garson, or the Old Time Radio marathon from 1989.

We will fix this issue and find a time to reschedule both programs in the next week or two.

This morning we begin Pearl Harbor coverage and then Johnny and Patricia should be with you again tomorrow evening at 10:30 eastern.

John and I plan to be with Bobb Lynes this Friday at 10:30 eastern.

We plan extended Christmas coverage on about the 19th of December so please stay tuned.

Hello all,

?

Unfortunately, I have to bow out of the rehearsal tonight.?

?

I know that some of you have met Carole, my wife.? She ended up in the hospital with two different conditions.? She came home a week ago.? She is gradually improving each day, but still requires a lot of attention.? The way that she is progressing, I should be able to do the actual performance on December 13, but I won't be able to get the equipment set up for tonight.

?

I have not looked at the script yet.? I'll try to do that in the next few days and let Jeanine know if I have any questions.

I look forward to being able to join all of you in the actual show.

Last Monday's show concerning Greer Garson

开云体育

Hello,

On Monday November 21, we had author Mike Troyan on to talk about Greer Garson.

We didn’t know at the time that we had a problem with our streaming software.

And so, the program never aired on YUSA red or blue although we did record it with Zoom.

This means that we will run the complete show in early December while Walden is away.

A good bet would be Monday December 5.

It was an outstanding interview and the book is well worth getting.

Following the interview, we played shows featuring Greer Garson.

"Mystery of BBC radio's first broadcasts revealed 100 years on"

开云体育

Hi,

This is not about YUSA but still is interesting reading for all of us.

?

?

“Mystery of BBC radio’s first broadcasts revealed 100 years on”

?

(Source:

BBC News

via Jon Langley)

?

The BBC is celebrating the centenary of its first official broadcast – a news bulletin that included a court report from the Old Bailey, details of London

fog disruption, and billiards scores.

?

It was broadcast by London station 2LO, but new research shows many early BBC moments came from northern England.

?

Manchester station 2ZY aired the first children’s show and introduced the first regular weather forecast.

?

Birmingham’s 5IT station broadcast the first “official concert”

?

The BBC that began broadcasting at 6pm on 14 November 1922 was not the British Broadcasting Corporation of today. It was in fact the British Broadcasting

Company and was made up of separate stations around the country operated by different companies.

?

London 2LO was run by the Marconi company. Manchester’s station was operated by Metropolitan-Vickers.

?

However, in these early days few records were kept of what was broadcast.

?

But new research on the BBC’s very early days has been carried out by Steve Arnold, a self-confessed Radio Times obsessive.

?

His tricky task was to try to piece together the BBC’s schedules before the Radio Times – so named as it listed the times that the new medium’s shows were

being broadcast – was first published in September 1923.

?

He explained he found information in “gossip columns [in regional newspapers] mainly, people saying we listened to this last night and this is the only

record of some of these things”.

?

Now, using sources from archive documents and newspapers, Steve has begun to piece together a picture of what the early BBC was doing. [

President Kennedy coverage

开云体育

For those interested in what the broadcast days sounded like on that fateful day of November 22nd 1963 during his assassination, Corey will be presenting coverage.

It will start on Tuesday November 22nd at 1:30 Eastern and 10:30 Pacific.

All of this is on YUSA Orange the newest YUSA network and linked on .

If you are a collector of this material, you may already have it but it still is interesting listening and especially if you’ve only read about it but never heard the actual broadcasts.
