While waiting on the Nor'easter results for Dispatch #57, due out is a couple weeks, here is how I did at the Nor'easter.
Hi guys, I spent Friday and the day on Saturday at the Nor'easter tournament, I ended up 1-2, I won attacking as the Japanese in Deadly Dexter vs Keith Hill, I got the dice I needed on the last turn but got diced and just outplayed by Gary Fortenbury in round 2 in Operation Blackwater, losing both Tiger tanks in the first 2 turns and he had Smoke on demand so I had no chance with the mixed, scumbag Germans. Lastly, I had a great game of Shaken, Not Stirred vs George Young, a real good player and George had too many Frenchmen to hold off though I did kill 4 of his 6 tanks. He got his 5th building on turn 4 and I could not take it back. I'd take the French on the attack every time in that one though they don't have a big edge, but having AFVs, no matter how crappy, makes it very tough on early war Germans who won't see PFs for another 3 years. If I had better dice I could have won. I loved attacking with the Japanese but wish I played something other than outmanned Germans on defense in the last 2, I and many players do better when on attack and with the initiative, but so it goes at tourney time, you do the best with whatever you end up with, you can't always be on offense. I had a great time in any event, rolled a lot of dice and got to see my friends. Next up is a road trip to Chuck Tewksbury's hobby club this Spring, he gets 20+ players at each monthly meeting, usually half playing ASL and the rest doing other stuff from our hobby. Always a great time, just like this past weekend, I hope to see you there, Vic.
