I sold my Tina II. I sold it a couple of weeks ago but the buyer has finally unpacked it and verified?that everything is in good shape. I didn't want to think of it as having completed till that happened.
She wanted a birds-eye maple Tina II so was willing to pay me what I wanted for it, which was well above the going rate for the cherry ones and also because I had more whorls, bobbins and extras like a spare scotch tension peg.?
I learned about the Tina II from this group and when I went back to look at when I had bought it, I realized how many of us had bought Tina II's in that timeframe.?
I loved that wheel. It was so beautiful. But when I went to spin, I almost always was spinning on a spindle or my Hansens. So it was better that the wheel went to someone who would use it. I occasionally think about selling my Reeves frame wheel. I hardly ever use it. But I don’t need the money and it is a thing of beauty… so here it sits. I weave more than I spin these days, and when I spin I spin on the 30”.

Erica, I told her right up front that I wasn't shipping it. She could arrange a wheel railroad or come and pick it up. She said she'd pay for professional packing and the shipping and it was expensive because I also insured it for full value. But she paid without a word. She's calling it her 'unicorn' because she's been looking for one like it.
Amy, I still spin a lot but I am either using my Hansens or spindles. I also have a charkha I pull out periodically. I don't need the money but I'm also in a decluttering mood. The pandemic and the Surfside building collapse have made me more aware of my mortality and I want to make things easier on my kids. So whatever I feel I don't plan to make or use is going. I sold 2 Bohus kits but I have two more I want to knit. I put my Hanne Falkenbergs on sale but no takers. I guess I'll be making them at some point. I could make them or leave them - rather neutral about them. The Bohus kits on the other hand sold in less than a day.
I also gave away the samples of Shetland that we put together so many years ago via Two Swans Yarns and the ones Connie's mom put together. I am not going to use them and one of the Warped Weavers members is getting into fair isle. She'll use them so I sent them on to her.
All this brought back lots of memories.

Jaya, I have been doing much the same with books. Culling through the fiber books and cookbooks that don't get used and could be by others. Having said that, if you still wanted to sell your HF Tweedie kit, that is something I would use when I make the move to Colorado.

When I got my current loom, which required more space in the one room I have for crafts, I gave the local weaving guild four boxes of knitting books. I used to buy all the “hot” books but realized I would never knit anything from them. I kept the Starmores, the Rowans and Kaffe, the lace books, the Japanese books and the stitch dictionaries and gave the rest away. I do however still have VKs going back to 1981 (including the first one when they started publishing) and an awful lot of classic IKs. And now I have weaving books taking up space on the shelves. The Guild, I hope, made some money on that donation.?

I gave away boxes of books to Schoolhouse Press a few years ago - a box a year for them to use in the raffle that the 2.75 Retreat does for scholarships to Camp. I’ve won my share of stuff in that raffle so I donated to it. Camp’s been canceled for the past two years so I haven’t sent anything. We don’t have a knitting guild. However, i do find myself pulling out books to build classes and so I’m reluctant to part with too many more.?
I have Starmore books up for grabs if anyone wants. Just shipping. I’ll make up a list if there is interest

Oh, and I got rid of all the IK and Knitters that I had except for those that had my designs in them and those that had something I was interested in. I gave them to the local thrift shop where a lot of knitters come. But they aren’t interested in books like the ones I have. They aren’t pattern books.

I have sorted all my fiber magazines to get rid of, one way or another. ?I found that one friend’s daughter is now knitting, so she will get some of ?the knitting mags. I’ve told her she can recycle/sell/donate whatever she doesn’t want. ?One of Maura’s early schoolmates taught herself to spin and recently bought her first wheel, and she is thrilled for me to send old Spin Off magazines.?

Jaya, I have been doing much the same with books. Culling through the fiber books and cookbooks that don't get used and could be by others. Having said that, if you still wanted to sell your HF Tweedie kit, that is something I would use when I make the move to Colorado.

I was also lucky that I found a great packing and shipping place because a condition of the sale for me was that she would pay for professional packing and shipping. No, it was not my friendly neighborhood UPS store but an independent POC-owned business that is a bit further away. They did a fantastic job per the buyer.

I've been getting Handwoven and Heddlecraft digitally and am going to stop my Ply subscriptions or make that digital too.?
I never look at physical magazines but I can search and look for stuff on the online ones really easily.?
I'm organizing my craft spaces and when I do that I both come across stuff that I didn't know I had or that I realize I am not going to use. I found that a lady in Oregon that I met at a spinning retreat had not only sent me 1 box of lichens from the fallen trees in her land but two! I should look for her contact info and thank her again.

I’ve told her she can recycle/sell/donate whatever she doesn’t want.? This is a very timely topic! After a long hiatus, I’m actively knitting again although haven’t attempted any spinning. Ive been culling my stash and went through my books this weekend. Like others, I’m hanging on to my stitch dictionaries (Barbara Walker, Japanese dictionaries), my Starmore books and a couple of lace books, primarily for eye candy.
I purged my complete library of Knitters and Interweave when I moved five years thinking there is nothing I want to knit in those. Of course this weekend I got the urge to start Sweater Girl from Interweave Winter 2007 and no longer have that issue. Fortunately it’s available to purchase online. I guess it’s a small price to pay for downsizing!

I’ve been slowly working through my stash, books, and tools, and find that it’s something I need to do serially.? Probably time to go through the millspun stash again this fall now that I’m back to one kid at home. ? I need to rehome a large loom (I had a buyer but she disappeared), a carder, some spindles, and most likely my CPW, but of course I added a warping mill the other week because I think that will be easier on my back.? Need to reassemble it, which I suspect won’t happen until I need to wind another warp. ? I’m trying to purge everything in preparation for moving and downsizing when Arielle goes to college in 2 years.? I was thinking this morning about needing to figure out how to get rid of a huge train table (8’x12’ sheet of plywood) and the dollhouse my grandfather built without my father freaking out.? The dollhouse is enormous and needs renovation and the furniture is all still sitting in a box, having arrived here a good 18 years ago.? None of my kids ever had any interst.? I’d like to create a room or 2 with the handmade furniture and let the rest go, but I’m afraid of my Dad’s reaction.? Guess I’ve got 2 years to figure that one out. ? Melisande ?

I still have my Tina II, and have contemplated moving it along.? Any spinning I do is on the Hansen, so I really should.? About the time I was finally ready to sell, Black Sheep Gathering was cancelled for Covid (last year), and cancelled again this year.? Maybe next year it'll all work out - I don't want to ship either.? I've also been slow to sell my Mighty Wolf loom, waiting for Covid to lighten up.? The numbers seem to be going down locally.

It seems to be a trend for many of us. I thinned out all my books and patterns last summer and gave away a bunch of stuff either locally or just for the shipping. I dumped most of my old knitting magazines, but it turns out that a local non-profit maker space would have taken them. My mother is getting rid of her weaving stuff and she said her guild will take some of her old magazines.
I’m still knitting, but even less than I used to, since it aggravates my thumb. I’m trying to thin out everything (not just craft stuff) and be realia about what I really want to keep.

I'm organizing my craft spaces and when I do that I both come across stuff that I didn't know I had or that I realize I am not going to use. I found that a lady in Oregon that I met at a spinning retreat had not only sent me 1 box of lichens from the fallen trees in her land but two! I should look for her contact info and thank her again. ? I have sorted all my fiber magazines to get rid of, one way or another.? I found that one friend’s daughter is now knitting, so she will get some of ?the knitting mags. I’ve told her she can recycle/sell/donate whatever she doesn’t want.? One of Maura’s early schoolmates taught herself to spin and recently bought her first wheel, and she is thrilled for me to send old Spin Off magazines.? Patricia in Austin

Yes, I think we are all analyzing what is possible given the time we have to spend on our crafts and making decisions. I am spending more time weaving and spinning than knitting so those things aren't going anywhere.?
For those who want to get rid of books, there are a few ways I learned based on a query I posted in a Rav group.? Rav group: Books and ISO Library is a place to sell or give away books Ziffit is a site that buys books, any books, You scan the ISBN or enter it and they give you a price. If you like it, you add it to your cart. They pay the postage for shipping to them. So does Powell's books in Portland. You have to enter the ISBN here, no scanning as it isn't an app. I haven't yet heard if they only give you credit (not so good for me) or give you cash.?

It seems to be a trend for many of us. I thinned out all my books and patterns last summer and gave away a bunch of stuff either locally or just for the shipping. I dumped most of my old knitting magazines, but it turns out that a local non-profit maker space would have taken them. My mother is getting rid of her weaving stuff and she said her guild will take some of her old magazines.
I’m still knitting, but even less than I used to, since it aggravates my thumb. I’m trying to thin out everything (not just craft stuff) and be realia about what I really want to keep.
