No, I¡¯m not setting anything up for this weekend. We are still too much in flux re: dates/times and now venues to schedule anything.
I am happy to look into Discord. I¡¯ve tried Google Meet and I don¡¯t like it. It doesn¡¯t have the gallery view that Zoom has which means you can see everyone, not just the person who is talking.?
But I can¡¯t commit to managing floating times/dates or even alternating ones. My other commitments preclude keeping track of such things. If Discord allows us to meet spontaneously, we can have a few target days/times on a schedule and people show up when they can. But scheduling such things and keeping track of it and reminding people is beyond what I can do at present.?
Our remote spin-ins are spontaneous with just a few people and we just set it up when needed. The other meeting is fixed for a day/time and I send out a reminder the day before. Both of those options are doable for me but anything more complicated is not.?
I¡¯ll check out Discord today and see how it works.
Discord sounds promising.?
Maybe it would be better to postpone for this weekend?

I think Discord is really easy to set up and use, and I¡¯m happy to ask the folks who set our group up, or failing that, to ask Ezra, who uses it a lot.? ? I¡¯ll add it to my to do list for another option for us.? and also for the US/Canada/India calls. If you agree, I'll set it up the same way. We can use as much or as little of it as we want.

My understanding of your email was that you were going to set up 2 sessions of 40 minutes each spanning the 2 hours on whatever day was chosen. My understanding was the rationale for this approach was that it obviated the need for a Pro account. This is why I offered to 1) set it up as 1 continuous session on either or both days and 2) did not weigh in on time.?

Yes, people are trying to balance a lot of things, which is why I tried to make it easy, by picking some times myself for people to respond to.?
If even answering simple questions on an email aren't doable given the other time commitments, how will a 40 min Zoom call fit in?? To me, it sounds like lots of people are interested but they are trying to balance it against other pressures.?
Perhaps the most efficient and inclusive thing is to set meetings for both Saturday and Sunday. It doesn't sound to me that there is that much interest even among those who said 'yes'. So if I don't get answers, I'm going to drop the whole project. It is just not worth it. I am happy to be an alternate host BUT the call must be set up with a password and no one is allowed to join before the host. I know that we set up alternate hosts to approve entrants on one of our zoom calls BUT that is done after the call starts. There are still zoom trolls out there and some images cannot be unseen.
