Discord sounds promising.?
Maybe it would be better to postpone for this weekend?

I think Discord is really easy to set up and use, and I¡¯m happy to ask the folks who set our group up, or failing that, to ask Ezra, who uses it a lot.? ? I¡¯ll add it to my to do list for another option for us.? The other thing about Discord is that the option is always there so it would be easy if a couple of people wanted to have an ad hoc drop in meet up.? ? Melisande ? ? I would love a floating yet recurring option to get more connection with you all! Discord looks pretty cool from its webpage. As it is private invite, should eliminate most troll/host issues.? Melisande - do you have a sense of how set up works (eg, how labor-intensive it is)? ? ? Jaya, ? I think a lot of us are interested (I know I am) but maybe multiple times should work or this weekend is a bit crazy and people aren¡¯t sure because of that or know that they have conflicts. ? One of the communities I¡¯m part of on Ravelry has been virtual meet ups that move around for day and time so that people with standing conflicts might be able to make some but not others.? That particular group also has a tendency to have long meet ups that people drop in and out of as they¡¯re able.? They¡¯ve switched to mostly using Discord, which doesn¡¯t have some of the same limitations as Zoom. ? It may be that our group is too far flung and has too much going on for a standing thing to be feasible, but alternating day/time might work out.? I¡¯m not sure, but wanted to throw that idea into the pot. ? Melisande ? ? Repeating what I typed earlier Given the people who replied on this thread, I did a search for New York, Sydney and LA and found these times/dates Either Sat or Sun (Sept 12 or 13 in the US, Sept 13 or 14 for Beryl)? I'm leaning towards the later time as it will not be dinner time in any of the places but dinner prep might be an issue.? let me know if this works. ? My understanding of your email was that you were going to set up 2 sessions of 40 minutes each spanning the 2 hours on whatever day was chosen. My understanding was the rationale for this approach was that it obviated the need for a Pro account. This is why I offered to 1) set it up as 1 continuous session on either or both days and 2) did not weigh in on time.? My apologies for misunderstanding. Please let me know if I should take over the scheduling so you don¡¯t have to deal with the work.?

? I didn't even get an answer on which time was better, only Sat vs Sun. I really can't set up a call unless I know both the time and the date. Yes, people are trying to balance a lot of things, which is why I tried to make it easy, by picking some times myself for people to respond to.? If even answering simple questions on an email aren't doable given the other time commitments, how will a 40 min Zoom call fit in?? ? To me, it sounds like lots of people are interested but they are trying to balance it against other pressures.? Perhaps the most efficient and inclusive thing is to set meetings for both Saturday and Sunday. I am happy to do it if someone can remind me of the preferred time on each day and also let me know if they can be alternative hosts.? ?

? If we moved it out a week, can we get a consensus on Sat or Sun?? It doesn't sound to me that there is that much interest even among those who said 'yes'. So if I don't get answers, I'm going to drop the whole project. It is just not worth it. ? On Thu, Sep 10, 2020 at 10:35 AM Jaya <ermabom@...> wrote: There seems to be a toss-up between Sat and Sun. Do any other days work? I am happy to be an alternate host BUT the call must be set up with a password and no one is allowed to join before the host. I know that we set up alternate hosts to approve entrants on one of our zoom calls BUT that is done after the call starts. There are still zoom trolls out there and some images cannot be unseen. ? I normally set up 2 calls of 40 mins each with a 10 min break for a stretch, drink or bathroom because I don't have a paid Zoom license. It has worked for our local spin-ins here and also for the US/Canada/India calls. If you agree, I'll set it up the same way. We can use as much or as little of it as we want. ? So right now, tell me if you?want to participate and what days/times are NOT good (can be a range like 9-5 weekdays). --
