Re: Mushroom dyeing
I've been thinking about that, Thérèse but I'm not sure whether I'll go or not. It seems too difficult to plan so far ahead these?days. On Wed, Dec 1, 2021 at 1:51 PM Therese Shere <therese.shere@...> wrote:

Re: Mushroom dyeing
I too have dabbled in mushroom dyeing, done a little myself and took a good class. Connie, if you came across that site, you probably already know about this, but just in case you or Jaya is interested - international symposium, a full week long, coming up in October 2022 in Port Townsend, Washington. I think it would be really fun to go to but I'm sure I won't pull it off. 开云体育Hi Jaya!Yes, I do still check in & read up on what everyone is up to. And that sounds like a really delicious way to do that cake. I’m glad that recipe is still going strong.? - Shannon On Nov 24, 2021, at 2:57 PM, Jaya Srikrishnan <ermabom@...> wrote:

Re: Mushroom dyeing
Yes, mushroom dyeing is something I've become very interested in. My challenges are a) I know nothing about mushrooms so I had to start with basic identification instructions, and b) dyeing mushrooms aren't the same as edible mushrooms even though there is some overlap. So the local mushroom club isn't very helpful because they forage for edible mushrooms. Also, dyeing mushrooms are mostly all wild. I think lobster mushrooms dye a beautiful coral and are available?to purchase but they are an exception.? Wild mushrooms also vary by geography. I think this is a multi-year journey for me as opposed to dyeing with other natural dyes.? I now belong to a couple of mushroom FB groups ツ --

Hey Shannon!
I don’t know if you are still reading this list but I wanted to tell you that we (my daughter and I) made your Tres Leches cake recipe this week but we made it a fusion recipe for Rasamalai Tres Leches cake. We put cardamom and saffron in the cake and in the milk mixture instead of the cinnamon in the cake. It was awesome!--

Re: Reweaving or French Weaving
Hi Connie!? I'm way behind on reading messages, but just saw this thread and it rang a bell with me.
The Fruitty Knitting Vlog, episode 111, featured an interview with Flora Collingwood-Norris who does exuberant mending of knitwear.? The results are cheerful and adds so much to each piece. The examples of her mending begins at around 41:58.? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC2A1TBNOJ4 Not sure if you watch this Vlog, but it has excellent content, although the presenter, Andrea, is struggling a bit b/c she lost her husband this year. Meanwhile,? my DIL is within a day of her first child's due date.? It's crazy around here with excitement. Very happy to learn about your move!!! Mary. |

Connie, I thought I remembered that Lacis sold one, and indeed a couple of other vendors carry theirs. Looks like Clover makes them too. -Therese Thérèse Shere Freelance indexing & digital information design
