I feel like going for a walk at the beach is okay, even good -- as long as the buddies are 6 feet apart and don't get there in the same car :-)

My parents only cancelled flying to California last week - after weeks of my pleading. My mother’s plans for self-isolation included going to 3 very large supermarkets - pleas to just go to one, off hours, fell on deaf ears. Mom turns 87 in 3 weeks; dad is 90. My dad is pretty much stuck at home anyway because his back is so bad but my mom could not be convinced to stay put.

Those who are Facebook friends saw DD and my project yesterday - she decided we should make marmalade from our oranges. It feels very good to be passing down the knowledge of how to make and can jam - I’m guessing there aren’t a lot of people who still do this regularly. Then she made some absolutely fabulous biscuits, the better to eat the marmalade.

I am having a ball spinning and knitting. Those of you on IG or watching friends’ photos on Ravelry will have been seeing some of this. I will be weaving the fabric for my summer hemp top later today. It is a long piece so will take a while. I hope to also wind a warp for a plain weave scarf that I’ll put on the Baby Wolf because the RHL is unavailable.?

Our governor has asked all non-essential businesses (like gyms, spas, hair places, etc.) to close. State-run liquor stores are closed. Restaurants are drive through/delivery/pick-up only, no eat in. I cannot believe the selfishness of people who will insist on “life as usual” since it’s more about spreading the virus than it is about catching it. Yes, I’m overreacting, and if nothing happens, that was sort of the point, wasn’t it. Several local golf courses announced that they will NOT close.

I am NOT sharing this with the group I initially intended. Since I started typing two of the members of that group have announced that they are getting their scheduled manicures today, because they want to.

I am shaking my head in disbelief. Both of them are over retirement age.
