YRC 2024 Season - Application & Waiver
开云体育Hi Everyone! On behalf of the Board, we are forwarding along the 2024 YRC Application and Waiver (see attached).? As you will see, the membership dues and fees have increased slightly - an additional $25 for membership and $25 for rack space.? This slight increase is to meet our increased expenses; rent has gone up and membership numbers have changed over the years. Thank you for sending the application, waiver, and your payment to YRC’s mailing address, noted on the Application (P.O. Box 1451?Northampton, MA 01061-1451)?BEFORE your rowing season begins.? Each member is required to complete this process before taking your/a boat out on the river. ? Ernie reports that the temperature of the water has been holding steady at around 50 degrees.? The water height and flow has been high but is expected to be coming down. ?We look forward to sending out an email soon regarding the opening of the boathouse and the 2024 season.? Until then, the YRC Board looks forward to seeing those who can make it on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00-11:00 for our Annual Boathouse Clean Up. ?? We also wanted to take this opportunity to remind folks that the Yankee Rowing Club website is a great resource. (). Among some fantastic photos of club members on the water and other information, there is also a section that provides helpful links, including important safety info and a link to the water flow readings (). While we will open the club for boat usage once the flow drops below 20 kcfs, we urge you to regularly check the water flow before rowing, as it can fluctuate a great deal from day to day throughout the season.? Hope to see you soon!? May this be a glorious rowing season for all! Best,? Jaime & Anita Yankee Rowing Club? Co-Presidents |

Jaimie-? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?There is a question in my mind about having "Guest' rowers going out on there own. I don't think that charging so cheaply per week is a smart idea. You are basically letting someone take a boat worth thousands of dollars for a? few dollars ( $40 per week? ) with no liability. He could damage the boat and just work away , not paying for his damage. I think you should talk to Anita, and Carol and come up with a higher rate, or better plan. There is probably no place you can "rent a racing shell" for so cheaply; we are basically giving the boats away and exposing them to damage.? ? ? ? ? ? ? So far we have been lucky and I have repaired any really serious damage done. But this is not a good policy, at this rate, IMHO. Addendum- this happens rarely? but still I think the sculler should be liable for damage. IMHO. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Yours, ? ?Craig ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

开云体育Craig,?Carol, Anita and I have discussed this. We probably need to bring this back to the BOD to get folks’ input. We did concur that the rate is low and frankly not terribly consistent.?
