Re: END OF CLUB ROWING SEASON
And big thanks to Bob, Ernie, Craig and others who have kept us on the water through this wet and unpredictable season! Have a great winter. Dorrie On Thu, Nov 4, 2021 at 5:29 AM Bob Sproull <rfsproull@...> wrote: As of Friday, Nov 5, the Yankee Rowing Club season for rowing club boats |
END OF CLUB ROWING SEASON
As of Friday, Nov 5, the Yankee Rowing Club season for rowing club boats
is closed. The water temperature is below 50F, the air temperature is almost always below 50F. Some nights are below freezing, which will freeze the water in the hose for washing boats. And although it will of course subside, the river is too high at the moment. The boathouse will be accessible during the winter, though at some point the water in the bathrooms will be turned off. Also, in the coming weeks, we will move some boats from the outdoor rack into the boathouse. We may not have room for all of them. If you have a boat on the rack and a way to store it elsewhere for the winter, it would be very helpful if you could move it soon. You may leave your boat on the rack for the winter if you wish. I want to warmly thank you all for, as a group, running the club smoothly. We have some conventions and a few rules, but the real strength of the club is everyone's cheerful cooperation. Thank you. Bob |

Seasonal Caution: Frost on the YRC Dock & Ramp
Yankee Rowers,
It got quite chilly last night, and this morning there was frost on the dock and on the wooden ramp going down to the dock. It was quite slippery in places. So, as it gets colder in the coming days, please be extra careful using the ramp and dock. (The hardtop portion of the ramp doesn't get frost as readily. So, when there is frost on the ramp, it may be a bit safer to use the hardtop going down to the dock.) Best, Ernie |

Great news from Pap
开云体育August 23, I was given an anterior left hip replacement, which is supposed to have the quickest recovery of the various methods. New England Baptist has hip replacements down as smoothly as a Ford assembly line. I was on my way home 22 hours after the operation and walking around and climbing stairs without a cane in 6 weeks. Should be ready to row next spring. Life is grand.Cheers, John Pappenheimer |
