Bummer. I really wanted to see the boat. How long do you think you’ll be there? Maybe it will arrive even a little later. I’ll stop by around 11 and see if anything is happening.

Hi all,
I may have mentioned to some that I am going to take a row and look at the Hudson USP boat, and its tomorrow am! What's coming is either the 180-210 weight or 165-190,
I'll get a spin about 8:30, and Matt the east coast rep will be around. 9:15 or so for a bit..... Please come by to take a peek.

Re: End of club rowing season Nov. 14
Thank you Bob for introducing me to sculling. I will miss my quiet time on the river. Thank you to all the other volunteers that helped make rowing possible. I’m grateful to be part of this wonderful club! Have a great Winter, Thinking ?? Marie

?November 14 will be the last day this season for rowing club boats. The water temperature is already slightly below our 50F threshold. Thanks to exceptional weather we've been able to extend the season considerably (last year we closed down on Nov. 1). Thank you for rowing carefully and safely as the water temperature has dropped and winds have been more challenging.
Those of you with private boats are free to row at your discretion, but please be cautious and careful: hypothermia, strong currents, and winds are dangerous. It's best to row with a buddy nearby. If you leave access ports open on your boats in the boathouse, you are likely to discover in the spring that your hulls have been used for small-animal shelters. Best is to figure out a way to put screen or hardware cloth over an open port in such a way that an animal, working 24/7, will not gain access.
The boathouse will remain accessible throughout the winter. There will be no heat and no water. But the club erg is there for you to enjoy! It's not hard to lift the non-flywheel end and roll it out onto the asphalt where the view, the temperature, and the sunshine may be nicer. Please share; I have no intention of setting up a reservation system!
A small piece of news: We have sold the Tom & May heavyweight double to Northampton Community Rowing. Sally Linowski and Gloria DiFulvio, NCR alums who joined YRC, delivered the Tom & May by water! We have bought a mid-weight Fluid double that should arrive in the next month or so. The hope is that the new boat, though not ideal for every pair of rowers, will suit more pairs than a heavyweight.
Thanks to Moi, we have set up a new group messaging system to replace the Yahoo group (All Yahoo groups vanish on Dec. 15). Messages from the group will have [yankeerowing] in the subject field so you can search for them easily. A message sent to [email protected] will send the message to everyone. If you have trouble or questions, please contact Bob Sproull <rfsproull@...> or Moi Wurgaft <moiwurgaft@...>. A few more details about the group are given below.
I am very grateful to all of you for making this season enjoyable and smooth. You gracefully adapted to COVID-19 precautions, to a surge in membership, to musical chairs for rack assignments, and to a reservation system for club boats. And thanks to all who pitched in to do what needed doing without being asked; special thanks, as always, to Ernie and Craig. Many thanks.
It's ludicrous to wish you as pleasant an off-season as a season on the water, but please enjoy yourself as best you can.
Bob
