Wow - may finally be time to retire MIDIBoards! Expressive-E Osmose
Need more info but this looks like an amazing controller and synth. ?Needs one more octave and a ribbon. The latter should be easy since this is a joint venture with the Haken Continuum folks!

Welcome to our relocated group!
Hi all!
I haven't had time to check out all the tabs and features but I'm relieved that we're back up - and off of Yahoo! I've been massively swamped lately with work and family and some health issues so I haven't done any synth-ish stuff since going to Synthplex back in March. ?I hope everyone else has some time to enjoy synths and other instruments and music in their lives. More later, David |
Re: Migrating the group
David,
I also spent the last day downloading everything in the Photos, Files, and Database areas (yes, even the photos that didn't have enough resolution to really be useful, sadly). What I do NOT have is an archive of all the messages. I didn't subscribe to getting the messages emailed to me periodically, so I'm just hoping that since you've migrated them all here, then they should persist here after Yahoo turns off the lights on their Groups area. If anyone has a collection of the technically useful messages, please let me know (otherwise, I guess I'll just have to slog through them at some point to "mine" the juicy bits). As for the Photos/Files/Database areas I downloaded... I've zipped them up (the zip is almost 150 MB) and I could put that on my Google Drive and share a link to it here for anyone who would like a collection of those three areas up to the point of 6-Nov-2019. I just don't want to do that unless I have your permission to do so, since you're the owner of this forum. I just got scared of everything going "pop!" and decided to archive it all before it might do the disappearing trick. Anyway, thanks for migrating it all over here. Just let me know how you'd like me to proceed. |

开云体育Hi David,I’ve just downloaded all of the files and photos of the technical procedures etc. ?There’s a few pics of various owners keyboards and internals that I didn’t bother grabbing. The conversation history will be around until December 14th but I understand the photos and files are about to be removed. There’s a chance that we can view the site via the WaybackMachine archive, but the group would be essentially dead. I’m happy to help if we don’t have a more tech savvy user to weigh in. N

Re: Migrating the group
I looked into this a little. I see Bluehost has PhpBB but I don’t know what’s involved in setting it up and transferring this group. The groups.io site advertises automatic transfer of Yahoo groups which is a huge advantage. However, how confident are people that it will be around for years?

Also I am not sure if the red button is working properly. I spoke with Harry at Kenton, and when you enter midi program mode (by hitting the button 2 times in succession) there should be no sound being triggered in the CS80 when you play different keys on the controller, to assign different midi settings. But when I am in the midi program mode, the CS is still playing notes from the controller. The transpose mode does seem to be working. Harry was not 100% sure there should be no sound, since he did not have a CS80 in the shop. Can anyone tell me if I should here notes triggered from the CS while its in midi program mode? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best regards, Alex [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Re: Migrating the group
Thanks for the heads up. Would have been nice if Yahoo had notified me. I’ve only been the group owner for 15 years. Anyway, I’ve wanted to get this off of there for a long time to a better forum platform. I looked into it a few years ago but didn’t get too far.

I’ll have to look into alternatives including groups.io. Is anyone here interested in helping with this? Preferably someone with experience in forums? I’ll also have to see what my email/web hosting company (bluehost) has available these days. David On Oct 17, 2019, at 3:32 PM, Nigel Cruickshank nigelc@... [yamahacs80] <yamahacs80@...> wrote: |
Migrating the group
As some of you may know, as of December 14th Yahoo will delete any files or images uploaded or attached to the groups. Also, I believe they are moving to permanently end the Yahoo groups site from what I have read.
It would be heartbreaking to lose the valuable info on this group. It’s invaluable for owner based repairs, especially in the case of the CS80 where moving the unit is risky and most techs wouldn’t want to take the job of repair on anyhow. It seems like Groups.io might be worth looking into but we’ll need to do something for sure. |
