the prophet is not going to be for sale - it was specifically asked for by the director and it has been my most wanted synth for many years - it's currently being fixed up by sam @ three wave music - it's been there for almost 2 months... it just simply needs a calibration but he has so much on his task list that there's a long wait - that's going to be the main synth for the film - the CS-60 was something i added to the roster myself... the director never specifically asked for the CS-60 or 80 but i thought it would add some extra sound possibilties... which i can confirm... it has a lot of stuff going on that the prophet does not - i got it because i thought i could find a CS-60 that would be in good enough condition not to send to the repair shop... so while the prophet was away the CS would be immediately usable - i regret it at this point - i shouldnt have put so much money on the line between the two synths... now that my primary source of income is going away to make time for the film and other upcoming gigs - far sooner than i originally planned - so... whoever is interested in the CS-60 can get a decent deal if they buy it from me... and i'll feel a lot safer about my money situation - a win win

well, IMHO,?your CS60 sounds immaculate... as far as flavour,? I have always found that a Roland JX3p? with its "sync" and "metal" function?can do almost everything I recall doing with my old prophet 5 .... and that $500 you got back for the ribbon?could obtain a functioning JX3p in todays markets...

well theres more to the story but we are getting into personal matters... im ok to disclose...
im scoring?a feature film this year... i bought the prophet 5 and cs60 because the director wants a retro synth heavy score...
i bought the cs60 at the wrong time... im leaving my day job sooner than i expected and i have to fly to be on set for the film...the money situation feels more risky now... and it would be a relief to get money back from the cs60... to have money tied up in a repair shop waiting period is scary right now... and yeah the ribbon, ring mod, and high pass filter are the?features that?made me want the cs in the first place...

I got a replacement ribbon from Doug at Synthparts. I think Kent Spong does reconditioned ribbons as well.
Worth getting the CS60 sorted I reckon

It sounds in great condition..... are you really sure a ribbon is worth losing a cs60 for?? I have a cs80 and it is one of the features I use least.... perplexed

i wont repair it myself... im not comfortable opening up such an expensive unit
id prefer to have sam at three wave music fix it... but he already has my prophet 5 and theres a long wait... i actually got the cs60 as something to help me with the wait... and it ended up being in more disrepair than the prophet
at this point id rather just sell the cs60 to get my money back... instead of even more waiting games

Do you wanna keep it if not for the ribbon? ?It’s not too hard to repair.

i bought a CS-60 (the one in the "ribbon controller fail" topic) and... the ribbon controller is working intermittently and has as an indentation - i'm not really a DIY repair kind of guy... and my tech will take a while to have available time to repair... so i'm trying to see if anyone is interested in buying it in the mean time - location: philadelphia, pa suburbs USA - reduced price to compensate for the damaged ribbon - i hope this is considered "relevant spam" and not just outright spam
