I have made a stand from 12 mill plywood that runs around the
sides
and back of my 80 and has two shelves for some of my other gear.

I don't know about the heat issue, but it would be great if you
could post a picture, or two, of the stand you built. I've been
thinking about building something similar, so I'd like to see what
other people have done.
What are other people using, other than the Yamaha stand?
