RF Tracking - adjusting T1, 2, 3
Has anyone actually done this part of the FT-301 alignment? On 4.0 MHz you adjust T2 & T3 for maximum output power. Then adjust T1 for best Rx sensitivity. Problem is that all three of these in the "Tune" or preselector section are seriously "gooped" in place. I could remove the hardened resinous material, follow the procedure, then use something to lock them in place again. But is it worth it??
This radio is putting out about 82-85 watts on 4.0 MHz, and sensitivity is pretty good. Maybe not worth it, just to do a "complete" alignment...? Joel, VE6EI |
Re: RF Tracking - adjusting T1, 2, 3
Yes Joel….I did it ?and found some improvement, but the rig I was working on had had a hard life. 顿补惫别….骋4顿础齿. Update on my FT-301
Got the radio re-assembled the other day. Installed LED's in place of the three incandescent bulbs. Trying diffused yellow, as I've always felt the white bulbs gave the front panel a too-stark appearance. Might change my mind later.?
Made a few contacts on 20 and 75. All said the rig sounded great. Then suddenly kaput, no output on sideband! CW is fine. Strangely, the mic gain potentiometer inside the rig has gone open. Tried re-soldering the connections, and ran it end-to-end about 20 times. No change. So weird !!? So now I'm in need of a replacement. Or I suppose I could try disassembling the pot to fix it, but that seems doubtful. I've got all sorts of pots in my parts drawers, but not a one that's 470-1k ohm or so and would fit in that location.? Minor item which will be solved soon enough, but a bit disappointing. Oh well, on to the internet I go to search for a replacement... Joel, VE6EI |
Re: Update on my FT-301
开云体育Well, I’m glad I didn’t try too hard to find a replacement pot. As I was taking the old one out I realized one of the traces underneath was cracked. Patched that and I’m back in action. Who knows why it worked as long as it did, then just died suddenly…?? I’m OK either way, just happy to have it going again. ? Lesson: Look for the simple, mechanical things first! ? Re: FT-301 No Tx Output - Solved!
开云体育Hello Marcel, ? It’s good to hear that you have solved your problem. I’m not sure what is causing that failure, but perhaps there will be a few more ! 73 from Calgary… ? Joel Weder VE6EI |
Re: Tune knob FT-301
开云体育Hi Marcel,Nice collection! I’ll see if I can find a the proper knob, not sure if I have it. Question for you what desk mic are you or would you be using for the 301? MD-1B8 or YD-844 these don’t really fit the look of the 301. Ive seen the YD-844 with the 901 and the MD-1B8 with the 767. Michael On Jun 5, 2022, at 1:12 AM, Marcel Crijnen <crijnen@...> wrote:

Re: FT-301AD free to a good home
开云体育Hi,I’m interested in your 301ad. Let me know cost to ship. I have a lot of spare parts to fix. I’ve been wanting the AD version. Thanks, KD6UJS MICHAEL On Jun 13, 2022, at 10:07 AM, Bo W4GHV <bobarr@...> wrote:

Re: Yaesu FP-301D PROM Generator
Hi,
I just came accross this thread. I purchased the complete Ft301 line back in 1979 still have it brand new and in boxes. In the early 90’s I purchased a bunch of the IC that get programmed for the FP301D. I looked into this as well and have schematics to make the programmer for the 74188. Feel free to contact me I would love to get this going again. There are other FT-301 groups on (groups.io) KD6UJS MIKE |

I've burned several of these. See scope picture from power supply.? South Hills ARC - KS3R/N3WX/W3PIT www.sharc.org, www.sharc.net, www.ks3r.org On Jul 3, 2022 2:07 PM, "Michael K." <michael.kohlstadt@...> wrote: Hi, |
