would ALPS part # STEC16B04 work to replace the encoders? Looks like they are about $2.50 USD each from Taiwan

You can try to contact Doug at KICS USA (kicsusa @ aol? dot com), he still had some switches 2 years ago, I was able to order some from him in... 2007. See my message about it: --- In xpantastic@..., "mirror_saw7778" wrote:

Re: Matrix-12 / Xpander - switches replacement?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWell,- I?m searchin? ... Original is Marquardt Switch 6401 which seems to be a discontinued part. I measured my original switches and what eventually comes close most or will fit is the actual Marquardt Series 6425 Keymodules w/o LED and Keycaps for Keymodules 6425, Series 826 ... These caps are available w/ printings (for the numwerical keypad p.ex.) and w/o printings, grey colour and 16mm spacing. Download here ... Marquardt standard switches overview Marquadt standard switch catalogue (both english and german langage available) ... and look yourself unfortunally, there are no technical drawings in the catalogue and up to now I?ve found no dealer to buy one sample to compare w/ a original. It would be great to have a guy here in the group who?s able to do more accurate measuring w/ his Xpander/ M-12 than I did,- and to get the tech drawings it might be necessary to organize a group buy before asking the manufacturer I fear. I doubt the company would sell a single or only a few items. Unfortunally, my technical english isn?t that good to describe the exact measurements of the originals here but maybe someone else could do,- I hope. There are the contact pins, their separation distance (5mm) and their horizontal position (don?t know how to describe without a tech drawing, it?s somewhat special in this case), the overall size of the switch (16x16mm),- mounting pins and their separation distance (14mm) as well as their horizontal positions (diagonally: left upper corner /right lower), the separation distance of the caps mounting pins (8mm) and horizontal position,- and height of the switch (9mm). I used a sliding caliper but won?t guarantee the precision here,- it was not so easy w/ the built-in original switches . It would be great someone would double check and eventually upload a tech-drawing of the original into the files section ! - But next is to get a sample and/or a tech drawing of the replacement? for a comparison. O.T.: I have the same prob w/ a Oberheim XK, have all the values but don?t even know the manufacturer of the original switches because it?s nowhere documented, so it?s much more tricky. Matrix-12 / Xpander - switches replacement?

Looks like I also need to buy new switches for my Matrix 12, a few of the buttons are completely dead and attempts to clean them are not working. The little removable rubber membranes inside are damaged (rotted).
Does anyone know where I can buy some replacement switches? I checked but he does not seem to have any, nor does ebay. |

I will look at that. Actually, I would like to create a clone of the Xpander user interface, but I like the idea of the MidiBox modules.. --- In xpantastic@..., "baumont987" <geebeex@...> wrote:

why do you want the Xpander/Matrix-12 layout of screens ? They are not the same as for the Matrix-6 series. The parameters for the two types doesnt match. At all..... WT ----- Original Message -----

To Matrix-12 owners
Hi,
I found a Matrix-12 Owner's manual recently (First Edition - September 1986). On page 21 of this manual, there is a reference to a manual called the "Matrix-12 Owner's Manual Supplement". The quote: " there are a total of 59 Primary pages and related Sub-Pages lurking within the Matrix-12. As a learnig aid, we have listed every one of the 59 Pages' displays in the Matrix-12 Pages Directory". Since I cannot find that manual anywhere, my question is: Does this manual exist? There is another manual called the "Preliminary Guide"? What is it? Is it the same as the Manual Supplement? I know, it's been a long time since these books were published. Thank you for your feedback. |
Xpander keypad and front panel switches
Hello !
Does anyone have any info of original brand, type, parts numbers ? Are these available up today or are there replacements to find ? My tech and me, we had it open and measured the switches, but here in germany we have mm/cm,- not inches. It seems, keypad and all the other switches are the same, isnt it ? Id like to replace all switches in my Xpander. OT.: I also need the switches for my Oberheim XK but have no info. Anyone ? thx in advance PeWe |

The only official thing I know about pages is the list of pages in the document "OberheimXpanderMidiSpec.zip" in the Files/Documents section, of this group. Could you explain a little bit more what are you trying to emulate, I do not understand clearly your needs. On the Xpander, to change a parameter, you first need to send a page select, and then a parameter change: ex: page select: F0 10 02 0B 20 00 F7 (VCO1, subpage 0) param change: F0 10 02 0A 00 08 00 00 00 63 00 F7 (bottom button...) see the OberheimXpanderMidiSpec doc for details. You don't need to resend a page select for the next param if it is still in the same page/subpage than the previous one. Page/subpage select takes a lot of time to be taken in account by the Xpander. /Greg. --- In xpantastic@..., "jleroux2010" <jleroux2010@...> wrote:
