Greetings,
?
I would like to propose support in the GUI for manual tuning external matching networks aka antenna tuners, for example when using Magloops - the built-in autotuner is not very useful for that application.
?
Here is a description of the proposed operation:
?
- a submenu with at least two buttons: "Manual Tune" and "Set Tune Power" (default 100mW)
- Sequence: pressing "Manual Tune" button saves current mode and power, switches to FM, sets output power to the value stored under "Set Tune Power", mutes the mic audio and then activates the transmitter. The SWR meter is enlarged, so it can be read from greater distances. Now you have both hands free to twiddle knobs on the external antenna tuner or the magloop.
- a second press of the "Manual Tune" button turns off the transmitter and restores mode and power to the values before the tune operation and unmutes mic audio.
?
If implemented, together with a 3dB power attenuator this also makes the X6100 into a nice RF power signal generator. 3dB attenuation equates to 6dB return loss, so that even with a shorted or open load the SWR never rises above S=3. Keeps the PA stage and ultimately the owner happy.
