Re: x6100 - firmware update - what actually happens

It should have written? to the flash memory in the STM32. It does say Erasing Flash when you see the process working ?.? Think there are some You Tube videos that show this.?

x6100 - firmware update - what actually happens

So when you do a x6100 firmware upgrade, the radio starts and a screen dialog tells you what's happening and automatically shuts down.? So at this point what has been written to where ?.? Then you take the sd card out and re-start.? At this re-start what is written to where ?
Thanks

Simon?? via ST software could you not load a demo file to the STM32.If that loads ok.Then try to load the X6100 firmware.
I thought there was an option to zero the STM32. Using ST-Link.
This may be of interest.
?
in Q900 radio's in early firmware you used a loader to much like ST-Link to load to the STM32.
It worth trying to recover via ST-Link, give it a go nothing to lose really.

R1CBU FT8

Just to show how much I love this firmware.? Here's my uploads to log since December 2nd when I started using it?

Re: Possibly the best firmware/base version

Thank you
Very useful

Hi JJ, Thanks for the reply.? I think I may be in the same boat with a blown chip.

I¡¯m in NZ.

Where did you source the new mother board ?

Thanks

I just repaired a 6100 with the same issue and it was a bad STM32 chip. I ended up swapping the main board for the customer.

Re: FM RX/TX issues

Never knew the FM was quiet until this thread as I have not yet used it. It was indeed quiet. Tried the updated firmware. Works perfect. Nice loud volume without over deviating. Great job Georgy!
Hoping we can still have wider bandwidth SSB in the future.

Faulty VFO encoder repaired

Try to keep it short.? Bought a radio with duff encoder, 6 pin FFC connector badly damaged by a previous owner.
Sent tiny board away to a guy to replace the connector so could then fault find with a breakout board.
One of the 74HC single inverters was faulty ,so the off to the smd guy again with spare inverters, came back fitted now have good encoder.
Was using the radio via remote software & fist mic to get by.? Keith G8IXN

X6100 - Corrupted base firmware

Have somehow corrupted my base software.
Display shows but radio is dead.
Have tried re-installing various firmware versions no good.
Thanks for any suggestions

Re: FM RX/TX issues

Hi Georgy.

Thank you! I¡¯ll test that change soon and let you know if it changed anything.

In the meantime I¡¯m playing with creating raspbian image for x6100 with Vara modem and PAT instance, to use it for sending emails through Winlink nodes without additional devices.

I am on the ¡®Silly Step¡¯

?

I had plugged in the control cable to my XPA250B which seems to have caused a data issue.

?

Once I unplugged the lead all worked fine. A whole day playing and learning !!

Thanks for your input

I had a similar problem. The X6100 is sensitive to SWR and will reduce power a lot if SWR is over 2.

To be 100% sure the ATU is locked in do the following.

Make sure TX CQ and TX call are disabled.

Long press ATU.

When ATU is finished reenable TX CQ and TX Call.

If the antenna is still out of range of the ATU you will not get the full 5 Watts.

?

Hope this helps.

R1CBU Firmware - FT8

OK - following on from the FT8 questions..
?
For some reason, since this morning, I have not been able to get more that 2w out on FT8 / FT4 and when tuning the ATU.

I have tried updating the X6100's base firmware and also created another R1CBU Firmware disk (multiple SD cards used) which does not overcome the problem.
?
If I run the native firmware everything seems to work OK and the output levels are normal - But as soon as I boot into the R1CBU Firmware things do not seem to work as they used to.

I have also noticed that the "Output Power Reduced to 5W" message is missing.
?
Can someone suggest a fix please ?

Re: TX not working with FT8

Edited

Mine works but will only transmit at 2w and there¡¯s no Reducing Power to 5w message

Re: TX not working with FT8

Does it transmit at all?? SSB?? AM? CW?

Re: TX not working with FT8

The same thing just happened to me this evening. I'll be following this thread for sure.

Re: How to preserve personal settings between R1CBU firmware upgrades?

Another option that I thought of to keep the data persistent across R1CBU firmware upgrades would be store it somewhere in the internal MMC device instead of the SD card.
I wrote the attached S01mount_data script which can be used in lieu of S01create_data, and the data will be stored in the radio itself.
?
Of course one of the issues with this approach is that if the X6100 dies and needs to be replaced, that data is gone too; also backing up this data is doable but it is a little trickier.
