Hello Georgy...
?
I am almost speechless and very impressed about the new firmware version
0.25 !!!
Just played with it and tested and measured for about 2 hours ...
Everything seems to be working perfectly so far.
FT8 is working very well and every CQ call will answered automatically
without any problems and also
no more scope/decode freezings .
On all bands in FT8? also stable 4.7... 5 watt ouput.
The mysterious effect that the preamp switching ON/OFF brings a changing of
FT8 output power is completly away .
The CW decoder and CW-tune-indication are working perfect as always and the
S-meter is also correct
with 100% RF gain/without preamp. = exactly -73dBm !!!
SSB with the BB-patch change (160 Hz)... very good.
?
Thank you very , very much for this excellent work.

God bless You ... !!!

Re: ALC still missing in firmware 1.1.9
Gary,
?
I was able to replicate what you reported: "So the radio does run commands to address 70 but responds from address A4"
I used CatSync since I wrote it. Sending command with 70. Filtering replies with 70 breaks the program. Filtering replies with A4, it works.
So, radio does take in 70 (it even takes other addresses: tried 90 as an exercice) and returns replies with A4.
One more behaviour that should be corrected IMHO...
?
?
Again, thank you for sharing your experience.

Re: ALC still missing in firmware 1.1.9
Joao,
I have an unconventional x6100 config. I copied the 1.19 app x6100_ui_v100 into the 1.17 app on my radio to get the UI improvements of 1.19 (audio scope on/off, white text - not red) and the functioning CW/RTTY/PSK modems of 1.17 which are broken in newer app releases. I am using base 1.18.
?
I wrote my own CI-V test program in Python (if I had known about the KB3HHA programs I wouldn't have needed to). I tested with CI-V Scout and indeed, the radio timed out with address 70. But strangely, it works with my program and a number of apps that use the 70 address (VARAC).
?
As you can see in the screenshot below, the second to last command sent was to address A4 and the radio responded correctly with an A4 but the last command sent was to address 70, and the radio responded from address A4! So the radio does run commands to address 70 but responds from address A4. This is probably why CI-V Scout times out because it is filtering for responses from the address you set in the address field, and my program (and others) do not.
?
In any case A4 is the proper address to use.

Re: ALC still missing in firmware 1.1.9
Hi Gary,
?
from what I tested, previous FWs did support 70. Lastest ones, mimicking the IC-705, seem to support A4.
Here's an example:
?
?
And the same command with A4:
?
?
Also there are previous posts on the group with users running apps (DXLab for example) that quit working with 70, but do work with A4. This was noticed after the lastest FW upgrades.
The tests I do are prone to failure and (my) erroneous interpretation. I'm always eager to learn and I would like to replicate the A4/70 command functionality. This would be a bug on Xiegu's side since one radio on the CI-V bus should have one, and one only, Address. Here's a print from an old Icom manual:
?
?
I'm always eager to learn. Can you please let me know the command you used for testing and also the FW (APP and BASE) you are running in your X6100?
I'm on APP 1.1.8 Sep 14 2024 and BASE 1.1.6 Nov 12 2002.
Txs for replying and sharing your experience.

Re: Xiegu X6100 hardware support - Spare components
I was (pleasantly) surprised that I got pretty good response from : tech-supp@... for an issue I had with no +8v regulated volts on the MIC connector of my x6100. This caused the radio to immediately go into transmit when the stock mic was plugged in, since it uses the 8v to pull up ptt, and without it, the stock mic has ptt engaged always. With a different mic without the 8v ptt pullup, it had? low/no audio b/c the electret mic element isn't biased sufficiently.
?
I had emailed them to ask about it, and for a proper service manual (not surprisingly they ignored the service manual request, lol! ) , b/c the "extended manual" they released described the issue I had exactly, but had no resolution steps. My request was for info on how to fix the issue described, and a service manual to go with it. I had little expectation that I'd get any answer, but they did come back with the part numbers of the transistor and diode that needed replacement to fix the MIC voltage regulation circuit. Got the parts replaced and it all works again.
?
Is your issue, or one similar, mentioned in the extended manual they released a little while back? If you put that in your email to tech-supp@... it might prompt them to come back with a better answer?

You can search the group messages for info like "report" and you'll find older messages refering this.

Re: Xiegu X6100 hardware support - Spare components
Forgot to mention.... Bought my X6100 used from eBay (only way to afford a radio). Work fine for one, year but now have receive issues. Need to replace components but, since I don't know where was this radio purchased originally from, I can't request support from a distributor. 73 Rob YS1RS |
Xiegu X6100 hardware support - Spare components
May I ask, which address do you guys use to report problems or software issues?
Have written directly to Xiegu for a hardware problem (need to replace SMD failed components) and have never received a response. Support is nil, zero, nada. I may be writing to the wrong address (the one on Xiegu's web page customer@...; tech-supp@...). Tks.

Re: ALC still missing in firmware 1.1.9
I had noticed the same. 120 is allways the response. I'll take a look tomorrow and see, on an older FW, if the response is the same.
?
CAT implementation is not strong with Xiegu... This week I reported to Xiegu that their read RIT and read XIT commands are broken. They said, on FW 1.1.6 that this was implemented:
?
V1.1.6 Release Note
Image File SHA256: 04F883E7E564CD715D6ADC3F6BF0E8110B4D190A5C46A8B5B8878DD1E522FD18 APP: ?V1.1.6 Nov ?2 2022,13:10:22 BASE: V1.1.6 Nov ?1 2022,17:37:32 3. Add CI-V instruction:? ? ?21 00 ? ?21 01 ? ?21 02 ? ?See IC-705 CI-V Command Table
?
Well... it's not. 21 00 works. 21 01 and 21 02 don't.
And they also refer explicitly the IC-705. In a way I think it's nice that they are trying to make it as compatible as possible with the IC-705. But it's a step too far when they even use the same transceiver CI-V bus ID (A4) that the 705 uses.

Re: ALC still missing in firmware 1.1.9
If you want a single, isolated, CAT command, you can use something like CI-V Scout, available here
?
?
or something like Send-CIVCommand, available here
?
?
Command to read ALC (send this command to the radio) is
?
FE FE A4 E0 15 13 FD
?
reply should be something like
?
FE FE E0 A4 15 13 01 20 FD
?
Reply bytes, in bold, represent the ALC level in BCD.
