Re: X6100 digital mode transmit issues
After updating my 6100 to the latest firmware, I was having difficulty with setting up the radio for FT8 with WSJT-X 2.6.1. ? After trying different settings, I finally got the combination right and just wanted to share as I can attest to the frustrations when you set it for previous configurations and it doesnt work! ? In the WSJTX settings I selected the following and everything works now as it should: ? Radio:?X5105?<-- X6100 Radio does not work for me (no CAT)?X5105 does?with new APP v 1.17 / Base v1.6 (July 26 / Mar 7, 2023 respectively) Serial Port: COM11 <-- Yours will be different (go to device manager and check Ports (COM and LPT) look for USB Enhanced Serial-A CH342 and Serial-B... Device Manager Port Settings: Right Mouse lick and choose Properties -?change to 19200 bps, leave other settings at 8, None,1, None Under COM Port - Set Data Bits to Default, same with Stop Bits and Handshake. ? PTT Method: CAT Mode: USB (I found that this will allow the X6100 Mode to be set as U-Digi) data/packet if selected (checked) will not! Split: None Test CAT: should go Green (if it doesnt select the other COM Port via the Serial Port 'drop-down' in Radio Settings! ? Audio Settings: Microphone and Speaker should be (2-USB Audio Device) <--Yours will likely have a different number - just make sure both numbers are the same! ? X6100: Select U-Digi (mode button on top of radio) DFL button: Select Filter 1 <--default should be 2950Hz Radio Settings 1: Line In Lvl 15, Line Out Lv 6 TX Power: I set to 8W - or watch the heat build up! - I like my input DC to be about 12.4 V? - radio is happy! AGC: OFF (top button) A/B: B Pre Amp: depending on Band/Conditions (10m, 6m I like ON!) ? As I mentioned earlier these settings work for me and may help folks that are having issues - all in all - the X6100 works well on FT8/FT4 and will also work for WINLINK or VARAC equally well! ? Remember to keep an eye on the case temperature - I have added a rear-heatsink but a small 5V Computer fan, strategically placed will assit in cooling for 'long-keydown' modes hi. ? 73 |

I turned the MONI down to 0 (zero), Screen is not off at the time this occurs, and it happens only when the voice announcement starts.Yes, I was able to reproduce. This happens at high volumes and only when outputting to the internal speaker. And when the headset is close to the speaker. If an external speaker is connected, then everything is fine at any volume. The same problem arose when broadcast recordings or recorded voice messages were played. So far I haven't been able to overcome it. |

开云体育Hello Chuck,I don't get that here. Providing you are referring to screen off mode? When does this happen, all the time or when the voice is speaking? You can hear my demo if you search for CQ Blind Hams podcasts. 73 On 30 Nov 2023, at 17:21, Chuck Maslin via groups.io <csmaslin@...> wrote: I found that with the audio announcements there develops a feedback between the speaker and the microphone.? 开云体育Hola. Yo no uso la batería del equipo. Está cargada siempre. Uso una LiFePo 18 A/h y antena KOMUNICA Pro-2 y EFHW en el campo. Sólo CW, no phone. Muy bien siempre.Saludos. Diego. EA1CN. KA1CN.

Re: Software Update
Thank you for the information. ?I greatly appreciate your clarification.
I had not experienced it, because my unit came updated, and, more importantly, works—with the exception of the charging and discharging indicators. ?Upon reading about this, I contacted Radioddity about using an external power supply other than the supplied unit. ?Radioddity stated that external power needed to be applied, but did not state that the supplied unit would work for this. ?The email was less than specific. ?I had also read through another forum or article review that a different power source is needed to be used for updates, as the wall charger was insufficient. ?I did not want a brick; while useful as a canoe anchor, bricks do not serve their intended purpose. I am good to go, should I decide to update, when another update becomes available. Now to find a good ‘walking’ antenna. |

>??I have used the provided charger to power the radio during updates without any issue.
This is my experience as well... When not transmitting the standby current demand is well within the supplied charger capacity (1A )...? I have mistakenly tried to perform an upgrade on internal battery, and the process fails on the second fw stage, as has been widely reported. Once I repeated the full process on the supplied charger, it worked fine with no issues. 73 Wayde VA3NCA |
Re: Software Update
Is this something you experienced? I have used the provided charger to power the radio during updates without any issue. In fact, the only real reason there is instruction to use external power for updates is to be double-sure that the update is not interrupted part way through, as that would brick the radio. The provided charger can provide enough power to supply the non-transmitting electronics indefinitely, which is all that is needed for an update.

Re: Software Update
When purchasing a product, I expect the package to be complete. ?The X6100 is almost complete enough for my purposes: highly portable and self contained transceiver. ?I write “almost”, because the charging cord might not supply enough power for updates, something I had not read until I read the manual: that is just ridiculous. ?Below is a photo of my X6100 as it came. ?The X6100 is a fine little transceiver, and priced very well for all the features and functionality. ?It fulfills my niche. ?Speaker wire, bamboo or fishing pole, and I can setup just about anywhere. ?With the right whip antenna, you have a HF HT.

Re: Transverter?
Hi Randy I had a bit of heatsink laying around, it is only small but it has helped a lot, The hole Transverter is heating up so it is conducting ok, when I got it, the 50ohm 50W did fail straight after, so it might have been badly made from the start, I fitted a new one and it has been fine, I now have a thermal camera so I could have another look, but seems good now, Dave On Thu, 30 Nov 2023, 13:26 Randy K7RAN, <k7ran@...> wrote: Dave, the eHam reviewer recommended a new custom aluminum back plate in addition to the added heat sinks (he advised internal and external, alas). I think the custom backplate is beyond my capabilities. Were you able to do all of that, or did you do some subset? Did you buy a heat sink from Amazon, someplace else, or did you use one you already had on hand? |
