Re: Software Update

I updated WSJT-X to 2.6.1 and CAT works fine.

Ah ok Oleg,

This explains the rate of updates slowing down if you are having to cope with these sort of issues

Very frustrating I am sure

I agree with the battery charge. I cycled the internal battery as mentioned 4 times and put full charge on it. Also, I am using an external Bioenno from my go box at times. I keep my mic gain 20-25 with excellent sound reports.

I'm wondering if Xeigu is making manufacturing part changes as they build these.

Please try not to have those thoughts. So many of us are looking forward to the rest of the outstanding features you have on your task list. Keep up the good work.

The RTTY and CW decode does work on my X6100, on 1.1.6 firmware

?

CW decoder is fussy about tone, it has to be in the 600-800hz range, the RTTY decoder you have to get the correct tone spacing etc

Re: Bad audio report, or RF infiltration?

Bad audio reports and RF infiltration are not the same thing.

TX audio quality should not change from band to band, or with the type antenna used. That said, I have noticed operating portable with dubious antennas that 20 meters becomes unusable with the external mic. Mic settings, ferrite beads on the mic line do not help, but the radio remains functional with the internal mic.

Another factor that will result in TX distorted audio, and will sound very much like RF infiltration on the far end, is low power supply voltage which will often result in FMing on SSB TX. This is common when operating portable from battery power.

My thoughts are that it is a common mode problem. I'm using a EFHW antenna with 20 meters (66') of wire. I have a choke inside the shack, and the feed line is properly grounded. 40 Meters is the only band where I have issues. I am able to use FT8 successfully on 40 Meters.
Thoughts?

Re: Xiegu X6100 Thoughts

For the X6100, I have found the firmware done by R1CBU to be good. R!CBU has been making incremental improvements. Problems and bugs are fixed in a reasonable time. One has to understand that he is one person with other things in his life.

I wish Xiegu would release the source code for the firmware then others could make improvements. Especially, when Xiegu abandons a product. I have found most Chinese manufacturers do the same, make something if it does not work then go to a new thing.

I've owned my 6100 going on two months now and I've noticed a number of deviations from the radio's advertised features and it's actual capabilities. Now, the decoding still does not work, nor dose the squelch or RF gain when in the FM mode.
Xiegu has historically been incapable of writing functioning software for their products. Here we go again with the 6100. Every time they come out with a new version of software for this radio they screw up one feature that was operational in the previous version, or they sacrifice one function all together to make another one work.
I am now wondering if the 6100 will ever perform as advertised. I'm thinking it's time to quit wasting my time messing with it and go on to something else. I still have two G90 which are very good radios and I believe superior to the 6100 at far less expense. In addition I have several no-name USDX radios that had a cost of about $125 that perform at least as well as the X6100. AND they have CW decoders that work!

You specified an IP address that is the same as your Mac. If they are online at the same time, it won’t work. On a Mac, your address is provided automatically via DHCP. Enable DHCP in the X6100 to automatically obtain all addresses.

Re: Bad audio report

Did you simply try turning down the mic gain?
Mine too had reports of distorted TX audio. Turning the gain setting down to 13 fixed it.

I've noticed that it is difficult to adjust the internal mic setting. Turning it up too will result to no TX audio at all. Set it too low and again there's not TX audio. I've not yet found the sweet spot setting.

Additionally, when I key up the mic without modulation, there's significant noise in the signal, and I see the ALC drops from 100 down to 50-60. This seems to happen even in a quiet room, suggesting the mic is picking up some modulation.

Possible causes I've considered include:

1. RFI interference in the mic cable causing distortion.
2. The mic gain setting being too high.
3. Incorrect distance from the microphone.
4. Another unidentified issue.

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences and solutions for similar issues.

Note: FT8 mode works flawlessly, so the rig functions well with digital modes. My concern is specifically with SSB.

Have two WiFi Networks, set up on X6100, assume one can choose between them?

Any suggestions or directions ?
