Re: X6100 alternative firmware v0.28.0

Georgy, please disregard my concerns about FT8. It just seemed to take a little time for things to kick in.

My experience with CW with the?OEM firmware is fine. On firmware 28.0 I find CW with a straight key a little scratchy -- also playing from memory. Using a paddle is fine. I am not sure why things would?be different.

Thanks again!

Steve

I love what you are doing here. The CW decoding is unmatched!

With the new release, I am having some issues with CW and FT8. Using a straight key, the coding feels like it sticks, but doesn't with the?legacy firmware. Also, FT8 shows activity on the waterfall, but isn't decoding. I also don't seem to be putting any FT8 signal out as I have in previous releases. I don't remember needing to change any settings, other than to add my grid and callsign. Is there something else?

Connecting to Wifi was easy, and adding 60m was also simple. Thanks again for these enhancements!

Re: X6100 alternative firmware v0.28.0

Hi Georgy!
Maybe there is a bug in the creation of the ft_log.adi file.
Yesterday I used the web interface to add a 60M band and later I completed 2 QSOs on 60M.
When opening the downloaded ft_log.adi for editing and saving using ADIFMaster (Windows), it reports an error "Invalid 'BAND' value".
Maybe because the Band I added isn't included when creating the log file on the X6100...

Re: log file R1BCU ft8 firmware

I could connect to the webserver in my X6100 first try. My setup: USB C port replicator with Ethernet port (LogiLink UA0283 v2) connected to my router (Fritz!Box 7490). Clock sync also worked automatically. Saving the database to my laptop worked well, viewing the contents was done with , no installation necessary - it works within a tab of your browser. Modification of the band limits also went well - minor problem: I could set the preferred mode for the 70MHz band, but it did not show in the web server - it set it to the correct mode, but the tab showed a blank. Params.db seems to be correct (is there a table which number corresponds to which mode?).
?
All in all, Georgy does a great job improving the X6100! Thanks again!

FM RX/TX issues

Hi everyone,
Has anyone encountered problems using the X6100 in FM mode on 10m?
Recently, I paired mine with a 4m transverter from UR3LMZ, and several of my contacts reported low modulation levels, even with the mic gain set to the maximum (50). Additionally, the received signals were noticeably noisy.
At first, I suspected the transverter might be the issue, but after testing directly on the 10m band with another transceiver, I observed the same results. Interestingly, everything works perfectly in SSB mode.
Has anyone else experienced similar behavior, or could there be something I'm overlooking?

Re: log file R1BCU ft8 firmware

Hi Gregg,

Run an IP scanner (I use Angry IP on Windows).

If you don't find port 80 discovered as open for your device IP address, which means the webserver is running, then you won't be able to connect.

Or connect a keyboard.

Re: log file R1BCU ft8 firmware

That's the way I have done it for WF SERVER.? Then again you could just use sneakernet to pop the SD card out and read it from your PC as I have been doing before .28.

Hi, Gregg,
?
For me it works only with the IP address, You can see the IP of you radio in the Wifi configuration.
I'm not sure where should the DNS name "x6100" be resolved,

CW is totally controlled by BASE board, which FW is not affected with this alternative firmware. This firmware only listen for signals from the BASE and, sometimes, send some commands to it. Could you check CW using OEM firmware - if it behaves the same.
FT8 decoder, used in firmware is fast, but sometimes it might miss some signals. I compare it with jt9 (part of WSJT-x) and it shows, that ~ 80% of all messages was decoded. WSJT-based decoder on device take about 15 second to decode and this is too long (should be not more 1-1.5 seconds). I'm searching some solution.
Not sure I understand about ?FT8 signal out.

Re: X6100 alternative firmware v0.28.0

Great update - everything works fine. The band editor is really neat. No real issues or new bugs discovered yet -? great stuff!
With the webserver implemented may we hope for a wfview function in the future? Perhaps the existing X6100 library is reuseable.

Re: X6100 alternative firmware v0.28.0

Once I noticed, that when battery voltage was relatively low (without external power) and I turn on WiFi - radio shuts down, like you described. I guess, it might be a hardware protection of the low voltage on the line, that power MAIN board.

Re: X6100 alternative firmware v0.28.0

Strange things, but don't know if 0.28 related because did not happened to me before. Today forgot ext. power in, switched it on and left for a few hours just listening. Sound was playing all the time, but when I saw black screan, pressed Power button to switch on screen (thought it gone off), but no reaction, no other buttons or knobs were functional, wifi connection to router was gone, but radio still playing sound. Connected ext. power in and pressed Power and seen full booting procedure on screen with radio still playing last frequency. Wifi connection and full functionality restored. Disconnected external power, radio still playing, battery gauge show 5.7V 0% and some time after, all repeats, screen is off, but radio still playing sound. Looks like only software (linux) do shutdown but not hardware, which still functions, but can't be controlled. About year ago I used poweroff command through ssh and result was sth familiar but don't remember details. Unfortunately not catched screen behavior. Looked into app_logs on DATA part but strange, found nothing. My charger setting is Shadow. Let internal battery charge a little and switched on with OEM latest firmware. When battery gone down to 6.2V countdown appeared and shutdown proceeded. After OEM on/off cycle checked again with 0.28 while watching screen. Something changed, this time there is no screen off with audio playing symptom - radio just dies completely at 5.5V without? any warning - repeated 4 times.

log file R1BCU ft8 firmware

Maybe this has been answered but I'll ask.? The FT8 Contacts logging in the R1BCU firmware, how do I retrieve the contact log and download it to my pc?
?
