Am I right... I can just plug in one of my little usb GPS modules and have the radio set the time from that? ? Do I need to configure anything?

Yes, I use the external GPS, and it is my preferred way (looking forward to use the WiFi option also).
?
Just saying the TimeSync was an added value in some cases, like:?
- inside a building, or even covered terrace or similar, the GPS might not find the signal - it happened that I forgot the GPS dongle at home :) - the radio is often carried to some remote areas (mountains, woods, islands etc.), where there might be no WiFi / phone internet (or the internet is left at home on purpose :) )
- the TimeSync button is a quick way to sync for a casual FT8 QSO (no need to wait for GPS sync or fiddling with radio WiFi / phone hotspot setup) - it might not be as precise as GPS/net update, but it works - and as it is already developed, it would be nice to keep it. ?
And of course a BIG thank you both R1CBU and R2RFE for all the effort and great work! But I guess you heard this already many times :)

3D printed MIC
Hi,
?
As an experiment,?I made a printed circuit board for a simplified (PTT-only) microphone and also a 3D-printed case for it.
I built a few and they work although I have to turn the mic gain up a bit.
This is probably related to the electret mic element that I used.
?
?
The files to build this mic can be found here:
?
Also I have a few extra circuit boards
If anyone wants to try building one, please contact me by private message.

What about setting time from GPS?

Re: X6100 looses RX after trasmiting
I'm not sure if it caused the problem, but people who make those broadcast filters generally say NOT to use the internal tuner of the radio when using the filter. Using an external tuner between the filter and the antenna is the better option. On Thu, Oct 31, 2024 at 11:30?AM Roberto - YS1RS via <ys1rs=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: X6100 looses RX after trasmiting
Guys. To make my story short with the Reception problems shown on my previous video... Since I bought my radio from eBay, no support from Radioddity but they were nice and tried to help, but at the end only got a link to main Xiegu. Contacted Xiegu and they provided me with an email with a copy of the service manual which was already shared here in our group. ? Saw the extended service manual and they suggest only one thing regarding reception, but not exactly my case. Story short: Contacted someone in China and obtained a new Main Board. Not cheap but the radio is now fully operational again and, somehow, find it way better than before with more sensitivity and faster overall operation. ? Starting to feel I previously had purchased a lemon. That is why it was sold on eBay? ? Now, lessons learnt! I will never use a random long wire or any End Fed with this radio again. That is what I believe damaged it. Yes! I was using it with Broadcast Band filter and, more important, I was using an “isolator” or decoupler” ?in the coax from the antenna to suppress common mode currents. This was a common mode choke (1:1 current balun or line isolator). Have used this with protection setup with the Hendricks PFR-3A, also with the (tr)uSDX, on both Low and Hi band version units with zero problems. Still don't know what happened but is now working much better than before! ? 73 Rob YS1RS |

BTW, for outdoor time sync you can setup a WiFi access point on your phone and use it to sync the time. |
Re: Waterfall / Spectrum Display
I guess it's by design.
Spectrum top border is at the top of the screen, not below S-meter. Also top panes is semi-transparent. Such design allows to use more height for spectrum (strong signals still visible through top panels, weak signals displays better). Just moving position of the bottom of spectrum will not solve your issue. Also some element sizes (panel for CW/RTTY decoding) defined by background image. In case of making waterfall smaller - it will 'collide' with band indicator. ?

Waterfall / Spectrum Display
It would be nice to be able to change the proportions (vertical spread) of the waterfall and spectrum displays. For example to increase the vertical size of the spectrum and reduce the waterfall. The spectrum display frequently show signals going off screen above the top. Maybe I'm missing a configuration item, but I've not been able to find it.
GREAT software, thanks for all you're doing to make this a fantastic radio! ?

Any chance to get this feature back somehow? It has its use cases.

Re: Any hope of getting PL tones in the firmwares
I'm not sure, seems it applies to ssb/am/FM. Need to check ср, 30 окт. 2024 г., 22:09 Stephen via <stephen=[email protected]>:

Don't 6m repeaters use FM modulation? Sounds like that filtering is specific to ssb.

Re: Any hope of getting PL tones in the firmwares
Well, x6100 in ssb mode is mixing signals from mic and from usb/internal soundcard. But it applies a 300-3000 Hz bandpass filter before modulating RF. This logic is burned within BASE firmware. It can be patched for changing filter parameters (at least low pass frequency), but I never test it below 160 Hz. ср, 30 окт. 2024 г., 20:43 Stephen via <stephen=[email protected]>:

Re: Any hope of getting PL tones in the firmwares
Is it possible to have an external tone generator, like a piece of hardware that sits between the mic and radio? ?Or even an app that uses cat control and audio io, letting you speak into the app, it adds the tone and passes it to the radio?
