Okay, Oleg. Please take the time to get it correct. We can wait.

Re: battery life vs operating mode
I put the finishing touches (trimming/tuning) on a 20m/40m linked dipole today and made some contacts while I was outside. ?I chatted with a ham from France for a bit and chased a few POTA activators and one SOTA activator. ?Things were going well and then I couldn't seem to make any more contacts.
Turns out I wasn't keeping track of my on-board battery voltage and it had dropped down to the point where it won't transmit; I was wasting my breath. ?:-) ? I learned I need to keep an eye on the battery condition. ?Actually, it probably won't be an issue as I usually power up with a 12V 9Ah Bioenno LiFePO (and sometimes have a 38W folding solar panel wired in as well). Keep an eye on your voltage... those words you're speaking into the mic might not be going anywhere! ? -- Bob KD2TTM |

Re: Navigating through the general settings menu
I did, but I'm blind and they show those soft keys in a lot of inaccessible images I think. A lot of blind people are using it, but they don't have any type of accessible documentation.
?
I do know how to locate all the buttons as in the name of them. Do you have a list of these soft keys for the various menus? |

newbie here w the 6100. i operate 99.9% cw? pota, and even the R1CBU cw message memory seems clunky. ( tho havent tried it, just reading posts about it) ; best solution i think is to use a pico keyer ( or similar) , plug it into key jack and set the 6100 to straight key mode. The R1CBU CW message memories work fine. I do however agree with N1RBD that the minimum Beacon Interval (i.e. memory repeat delay) being 10s is a bit too much for my liking. I usually find that when I am calling CQ POTA I like about a 6 or 7 second pause.? I would be nice to see a little more granularity between 5 and 10 seconds for this setting.? Cheers Michael VE3WMB? P.S. There is nothing to prevent you from using both an external keyer and the internal CW memories in the R1CBU firmware. The memories still work in straight-key mode. For POTA, I sometimes use a Palm Paddle with the companion Code Cube keyer, which has one easily accessible memory button. I use that for a short 1X1 CQ POTA call? and if I am not getting a response after a few calls I will use the R1CBU CW memory to call in a loop until someone calls me back..? |
Re: battery life vs operating mode
Randy :
?I usually get a bit less that a couple of hours of operating time when doing a CW POTA activation at 5 watts on the internal battery. Three hours of casual CW operating on the internal battery is probably about right. The X6100 is a bit power hungry, certainly more so than my IC-705.? Michael VE3WMB? |

If Morse decoding is essential, you should maybe consider paying for a commercial Morse decoder.
There is also a very good Android app Morse Expert, and it's free. I assume Oleg is developing his X6100 fw on his spare time. |

Re: Navigating through the general settings menu
Did you already check the "Radioddity extended manual for the Xiegu X6100"? I am not referring to the normal Xiegu manual, but to the 130 pages extended manual produced by Radioddity. If you click on "GEN", you activate the softkeys that are related to the GENeral menu, such as "Radio Setting1", "Radio Setting2", "Display Setting", "System Setting" and "Memory Edit". You "navigate" by pressing one of those 5 softkeys. |
