NTP time sync is performed every time on activating any network connection. You can disconnect and connect WiFi again to force time sync. It's not a part of the application - just script that executed every time on new network connection. Also - there is at least 2 clocks on the system. RTC - it's like BIOS clock, powered by battery. This clock is not so accurate (not sure, might be it doesn't supports fraction of second). Second clock is a system clock - it's accurate, but not survive reboot. I might be wrong, but I guess, that on start RTC time copied to the system time. Than, with NTP system time becomes adjusted. During time sync after network connection - new time also saved to RTC (with losing some accuracy).
