I learned that the ALC meter is "backwards" in that it shows 100 when there is no power and down at 4-10 when pwr out is 4+ watts.
In my case it was fixed by increasing the audio output from the terminal program to the rig.
I'm using FT8cn Android app, so it was a matter of going to my Android phone app and selecting SETTINGS, then SOUND, then selecting MEDIA and increasing the slider to 100%, and then all is well, rig output is 3-7 watts during xmit of tones and ALC number runs low tween 1 and 10, again variable as tones go through.
I think WSJTX also has a xmit "pwr" slider on the lower right side of screen.? Push it all the way up and then give it a try.
