With no wish to muddy the waters, I downloaded the `main` branch zip file referenced above and tried to build Xephem. ?I'm using macOS 12.1, the latest non-beta Xcode toolset and?XQuartz 2.8.1 on a "silicon-only" MacBook Pro. ?The build fails with the
? ?fatal error: 'X11/extensions/Print.h' file not found
mentioned earlier (with the comment that this error is resolved by using a five year old version of XQuartz). ?I did (could?) not go back to that version because it pre-dates the architecture of my Mac. ?I appreciate that people are concerned about building on/for older hardware and versions of macOS; I've no intention of emphasizing Monterey .. I'm merely reporting my experience. ?For what it's worth, I've had Xephem 3.7.7 on a series of Macs for a long time, and it still runs fine on my above referenced system.
