Interesting Callsign
I don't know if they have vanity callsigns in Romania, but just worked this station on 30 meter FT8: YO0OOO It would be interesting if someone in Panama had the callsign HO0OOO and they had a QSO on FT8. January VHF Contest Results
In the July issue of QST, they published the abbreviated contest results for the Jan VHF contest. Congrats to Jared KF2MR for being in first place in the Atlantic Division for the Classic Rover category, with over 79,000 points. And congratulations to Steve, KA1CNF for being very shrewd and entering in the FM Only category and also being in first place in the Atlantic Division, with 36 points, which helped XARC finish last in the local club category!! Not to give Steve a hard time, he was nice enough to get on the air and help us get enough entries to even submit a club score, and we chuckled about how minimal of an effort we were able to mount. Safe to say I was more than a little surprised when I was perusing QST today and saw Steve's call. I'm guessing Steve was too. Sadly, the ARRL Contest portal is still only partially restored, with no complete contest results. I was looking forward to the 10 meter results. Hopefully the site will be back by the time the DX contest results are tabulated. -- Brian -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- k2as@... http://xarc.us http://k2as.us https://www.qrz.com/db/K2AS

Field Day Preliminary Results - We did great!
2
Folks, Thanks for taking part in the XRX/ARES Radio Clubs Field Day. We finished with 325 phone QSOs, 383 CW QSOs, and 405 Digital QSOs for a total of 1113 contacts. We worked every ARRL section in both the US and Canada as well as 3 DXCC countries. We've worked all 50 states before but we never worked not only all US states and Canadian provinces but also all ARRL sections in a single year. I project we'll finish with 6107 points in the top 12% of the 3A class. Special recognition to the GOTA team. They finished with 151 QSOs and 1255 points. That's 20% of our total! Perhaps more significantly, several new hams made their very first contacts at our Field Day. Attached are spreadsheets showing our performance this year and comparing it to past efforts. Can't wait until FD '25! 73 Bob, K2OID -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG antivirus software. www.avg.com

Checklist for XRX/ARES Radio Clubs Joint Field Day 2024
Everyone, Attached is the checklist for everyone of some things that will be needed Field Day. Please look it over and bring what is appropriate for you. If you will be helping string wire antennas Friday and have some rope handy, bring it. If you plan to run CW and have a favorite paddle, bring it. If you plan to operate at night, bring a flashlight.... You get the idea. If you have something that you think could be useful for set up, bring it even if it's not on the list. Be sure to label everything you bring with your name and/or call. Several of us have offered to help put up wire antennas on Friday. Thank you. We'll be contacting the volunteers in the next few days to set up work schedules. Please let me know if you have any questions. See everyone next weekend. 73 Bob, K2OID 585 729-5308 -------------------------------------------------------------- On 6/6/2024 11:51 PM, Robert Karz wrote: Everyone, Our joint XRX/ARES Radio Clubs Field Day 2024 is Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23. Dues Status
2
Hi folks, Thanks to all who attended our June meeting this month. One thing that came up, is that we have had a significant drop in paid members this year. We don't normally feel a need to nag members, but the feedback we received is that people want to be reminded that they have not paid dues. Thanks to all who already have paid dues for 2024. So with that in mind, I am sending out this latest page from our treasury report submitted by Dusty KF2CF (see image below). Just to be clear, if you have chosen not to continue as a member, no problem. You are still welcome to participate in FD, use the repeater and participate in any way except for voting on club business. (along with many club members loan of equipment, time, labor, etc, Field Day costs the club $200 for liability insurance every year.) If you have just not realized you are not up-to-date, here is a link: https://xarc.us/pay-dues-or-donate/ Dues are $10.00 per year ( a little more via PayPal). The yearly income from dues is not quite enough to cover expenses for Field Day, website, and other miscellaneous expenses, so we are gradually reducing our bank balance, which by the way, has been mostly propped up by sales of assets obtained many years ago by members long gone. Green in the 2024 column indicates paid. If you haven't paid for 2024 just because you did not realize, we would appreciate if you paid dues via PayPal or sent a check to Dusty. Thanks for your support! Field Day next weekend! -- Brian -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- k2as@... http://xarc.us http://k2as.us https://www.qrz.com/db/K2AS

July QST - XRX ARC January VHF Contest
2
Goal Achieved! Congratulations to those who made it happen. XRX ARC made it in the local club listing in QST for the January VHF contest. This was the first time in many years. The goal was simply to qualify for the listing and that goal was achieved. Next goal? Maybe doubling last year's score?
