Lou, K2ANC has an antenna that is misbehaving. At the young age of 89, Lou is not certified for roof climbing. Good chance it is a simple fix, but requires going up on his 1 1/2 story roof. I am willing to go up, but would like one or two guys to help. Lou has a ladder and plenty of tools if needed. Probably not required to go up on the roof, but you can if comfortable. Let me know if you can help, and we can set up a time with Lou. Brian

All, Lou, K2ANC has donated some equipment to the club. I stopped by his place yesterday and picked it up. In addition, he also donated a more modern accessory, a Timewave Navigator. The Timewave Navigator, I might consider keeping for the club, but will discuss with members. It could be usable for Field Day if we wanted to run digital modes on a not so modern rig. It currently sells for $375. The vintage test equipment I thought I might take to the hamfest, but will probably research some more before doing that. But if someone in the club really wants these items, maybe we can come up with a fair price. Please don't ask if you are planning on flipping them for a higher price. The two units are: HP 200AB Audio Generator HP 410B VTVM Both seem to power up, but are untested at the moment. Units in similar condition can be found on eBay. The Audio Generators are selling for a bit under $100. The VTVM is another story. One is listed for $795, others for several hundred. One of the best VTVMs of it's day, so I guess it is in demand. But I want to research some more. If anyone in the club would like to purchase one of these, email me directly, and we can discuss. If not, we might try the VTVM on eBay to maximize our return. Can bring to ROC City Hamfest and you can check it out there. I can bring a 1.5kW dummy load but we will need to find a generator to power on. Asking $925. Used sparingly. Latest forecast for Tuesday is steady rain overnight and into Tuesday AM, with scattered showers after. Since the wx looks not great for Tuesday, let's go for Wednesday instead. Nothing will be provided, so bring your own lunch, drinks, chairs, etc. Let's plan on Tuesday August 15th, 12:30 PM at Ellison Park at the North Landing Road Horse Shoe Parking lot. Rain date is Wednesday Aug. 16th. We will pick a nice shady area. I don't know if there are any picnic tables there or not, and shelters are not cheap, so plan accordingly. Maybe we can scrounge up a few folding tables (bring'em if you got em) This will be very informal. Long shot, but - If anyone has in their junkbox, a 3K ohm linear taper, chassis mount (standard 3/8 bushing and 1/4 shaft), but shaft needs to be at least 1.5 inches long , I will take it off your hands. This Drake 2-C I'm refurbing has no sound until I hit about 2/3 scale, and then it is way too loud. Have to use the RF gain for volume. I took the pot apart, and the first 2/3 of the carbon trace is completely GONE. These seem to be hard to come by these days, as I have been searching parts suppliers and surplus sites for a couple hours. Seems like an unusual value for a pot, but I guess Drake used them more than once. I probably will get as close as I can with a substitute if no luck, but thought I would ask first. Brian

Folks, I know I say we did well every year, but this year we had far and away the best FD ever by almost any measure. I project we will have 1067 QSOs for 3756 QSO points, 1910 Bonus points, 5,666 total points, and a projected top 11.6% of the 3A class. Specifically: 1067 total QSOS CW 391 DIG 420 PH 204 GOTA PH 52 1910 Bonus Points 300 100% emergency power 100 Media publicity 100 Public Location 100 Public Information Table 100 Message to SEC 100 10 messages originated 100 Alternative power 100 W1AW Bulletin 100 Educational Bonus 100 Visitation by Agency rep 100 GOTA Coach 100 Social Media 100 Safety Officer 100 5 youth participation 50 Web submission 260 GOTA Bonus (52x5) Total points (projected) 5,666 Place (projected) Top 11.6% of 3A class By comparison, last year we had 992 QSOs for 4,336 points and top 19.1% OF 3A.
